Can Ableton Live sequence or trigger Maschine patterns directly when Maschine 2 is loaded as a plug-

I am trying for just like 2 months now,… is there any genius out there? I´ve also tried to reach the CC, but fly me to the moon :-)

Current setup:

Track 1 in Ableton: Maschine 2 plug-in loaded
MIDI From: All Ins
Channel: All Channels
Monitor: Off

Group 1-4 (…) Ableton MIDI tracks 2, 3, 4,5 : routed to the Maschine plug-in track
Per track channel: matched to each Maschine Group MIDI channel
Audio From: respective Maschine output pair
Monitor: Auto

Inside Maschine:

Each Group: Input > MIDI > Source = Host
Each Group: unique MIDI Channel
Non-drum Groups: Key Mode = Manual
Group Output: Ext. output pair
Sounds inside Group: Sound Output = Group

Main issue:Ableton can´t trigger the loaded sounds, nor switch or launch separate Maschine patterns the way Ableton clips work.

Hi Zighetta, I play live with both and the only way I found to have some flexibilty is to trigger Scenes. It would be much musical if it were possible to simply trigger Patterns. unfortunately, you have to organize some Scenes first, so it is not that good for real live sets.

Scenes, Sections and Locks can be triggered by midi if enabled in the settings.

Patterns cannot.

So you mean I cannot copy several patterns in to Abletonclips and then press play there? So I have tried to get through the jungle, and can't see the sky anymore. Get me to the lost and found. Is there a way to integrate it with ableton ergo is there a way to compose and to work with it In ableton and not make a live performance? Because I would like to add the keys and the guitar then, at the end orchestrate it.

No, that’s not what I mean.

You asked to trigger Maschine Patterns with midi sent from Ableton, and that’s not possible.

If instead you decide to record the patterns in Ableton clips and have them play Maschine sounds, that’s another question (you can even use Maschine hardware’s pads to record into Ableton. Practically Maschine plugin will send midi out to Ableton, which will record it in its clips and send it back to Maschine’s groups. Which is, imo, the best way to use it, vastly superior than using Maschine hardware in midi mode, cause you can take advantage of many Maschine functions, like scales, chords and what else).
It’s just a matter of setting up things correctly. There are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to do it. Not all are very easy to follow… I’ll link to the one I think is the clearest (and fastest) one. It’s in French, but with translation or subtitles you can manage to go through it.

Practically, you will use Ableton sequencing abilities and Maschine as a sounds module.

@RILKECAT, I WOULD LOVE. TO LEARN HOW TO TRIGGER SCENES in ableton, I gather it'sonly possible while playing live? anyone knows a good video on that? because have been through a lot of videos ..drain…so thanks for that advice. and

@LostinFoundation thanks for that, - I know if I set it on drumkit then it works, if not, then all the notes seem to be one. thats a good clue sometimes. unfortunately he has only one drumkit so that'swhere he ends. if I could make also the mass and some keyboard chords on the maschine mk3 I'd be happy.

WHAT ABOUT. having a ee machine channels in ableton to play live and then the patterns which are dragged on komplete kontrol tracks.

because I want to play the real komplete kontrol piano to the drums bass and chords I did before in maschine, there must be that kind of super complicated setup faking it a komplete kintrol….

Thanks everyone for your replies! After several exchanges with Native Instruments Level II support, I think I've finally narrowed the problem down to one very specific question.

NI confirmed that Ableton cannot trigger Maschine Patterns. Dragged Patterns become ordinary MIDI clips, and Ableton is supposed to become the sequencer while the Maschine plug-in simply plays the incoming MIDI.

A clearer and more correct version would be:

However, I have never been able to reach the point where Ableton becomes the sequencer.

In my project:

I create Pattern 1 and drag it into Ableton.
I create Pattern 2 and drag it into a second Ableton clip.
Both Ableton clips contain different MIDI notes.
The routing appears to be correct (Host MIDI, separate MIDI channels, separate audio outputs).

But when I launch Clip 2 in Ableton, the playback still seems to depend on whichever Pattern is currently active inside Maschine. In other words, I never reach the point where Maschine behaves like a pure sound module responding only to Ableton MIDI.

Has anyone here successfully achieved this workflow?

If yes, could you describe your setup?

Specifically:

Can you launch two different Ableton MIDI clips (copied from two different Maschine Patterns) and have them both play correctly without changing the active Pattern inside Maschine?
If so, what is the crucial setting that makes Maschine ignore its internal Pattern playback and respond only to Ableton MIDI?
Or is this workflow simply not possible, and the only practical live solution is Scene triggering?

I'd really appreciate hearing from someone who is actually using this setup successfully.
