NI used to offer their Komplete bundles on a separate HD that would be shipped to you. They stopped doing that some time after Komplete 10 or later (I Don't remember). Unfortunately, now Komplete 26 Ultimate Collectors edition requires 1.6T to install. Those of us who are stuck with SLOW internet bandwidth are screwed. Let me explain…
A couple of years ago the city got Federal money to upgrade streets and sidewalks. Unfortunately, when they upgraded my neighborhood they damaged the internet cable feeding our neighborhood. The provider petitioned the city to bore under the street to replace the cable, but the city denied them. Now, every six months or so I lose my telephone access and internet as the line goes bad. My provider has since increased the internet speed overall, but it is not available to me because the line connection is so bad! I am stuck with a slow internet connection until I move!
If I were to try to download K26 Ultimate Collectors edition, it would take three months consuming my entire bandwidth to download, effectively shutting me down for those three months. If NI would offer the bespoke hard drive of old, I would upgrade in a heartbeat (maybe quicker), but unless that happens I will never upgrade my Native Instruments Komplete Ultimate Collection again.
Spitfire Audio offers their libraries in bespoke hard drives and I have purchased several high end libraries from them on HD. Too bad NI is losing out on potential sales!
