I've always been intrigued by the idea of a DAW in a box, but for me, that a
lways involved having a laptop and a Maschine control surface. In this way, I have Maschine Mikro MK3, 2 MK3, 1 Maschine Plus and Jam. But when I started traveling up and down the east coast to visit family and friends, I decided that I was a weekend warrior. Content to fly on the absolute budget flights and I would take the absolute minimal amount of gear with me.
I found a pre-owned Microsoft Surface Co-Pilot running ARM and I was all ready to go until I realized that Maschine wouldn't install. Through a random post about how to save installer files, I was able to install Maschine outside of Native Access and discovered that the issue WAS NOT Maschine at all, but an issue with Microsoft who had not released the updated version on the Virtual Midi Driver on ARM. This was the problem — not Maschine.
This is Microsoft's problem to solve and NOT Native Instruments and that is where I stand. Maschine works now — at least on the desktop. I'm not sure if it will work with one of my hardware devices, but it's something.
Sorry guys, I ever doubted you. My loyalty is restored…
