Best electric drum kit for Native Instruments?

hi all!

I’m hoping to get recommendations here for an ideal electric drum kit setup that works well with Native Instruments plugins across the board. At this point through Komplete, Maschine, Kontakt etc. I have so many amazing kits to choose from for drums — but so far the electric kits I’ve plugged into my Mac Studio and MacBook have not behaved great with the software.

Anyone have a kit they love to use with Native Instruments? Would love any recs!

oops! I meant to mention in my original post. I’ve used a Roland TD-30 and a Behringer kit, I believe the XD8USB.

Have you used a kit that works well with Native Instruments? Both the ones I mentioned above “work” but the mapping has been troublesome. Ultimately my drummer and I have either opted for recording what we can given the limitations of the mapping or we’ve abandoned ship entirely and had to switch to Apple’s Drumkits.

@mykejb — I’ve also had a similar issue with hihats! For some reason the tracking of closed vs open high hat has been an issue across a number of kits I’ve tried to use the electric drum kits with

I think it depends on the articulations you want. I've used a Roland TD27v2 and it worked ok, although I eventually ended up using Toontrack SD when I wanted to use it connected to the computer as that supported it better out of the box. It's the hi-hat that seems to take the most configuration.

Suggestion: Maybe you should mention which kits you've tried, so people don't recommend those.
