Can’t record Maschine MIDI notes in Live 12

Hello everyone,

I'm using the latest version of Ableton Live 12 and I'm trying to record MIDI from my Maschine MK3/Maschine 3 SW, as shown in the images.

I’m able to record audio on Track 2 for the snare sound, but I can’t seem to record the MIDI notes for the kick on Track 1.

Is this the expected behavior, or do I have something misconfigured in my settings?

Theres other ways to do it, if for example, you want 1 MIDI track per Pad, or you would rather have an external instrument track, drumrack or whatever else.. Theres lots of Youtube guides for it.

It's misconfiguration.

In Ableton, you cannot capture MIDI Out from a plugin into it's own track (afaik), you need a separate MIDI Track, so make one.

In Maschine-Plug:

If you only want 1 Ableton-MIDI track to send/receive from Maschine-Plugin, right-click the Group and convert it to Sounds to MIDI Notes.
Change the Group MIDI Input to Manual and Transpose to C3.
Select all Sounds/Pad and change the MIDI Out to Host.

All this makes sure the Group will send/receive notes to/from the Ableton MIDI Track, from C3 and up, and those notes trigger Pads and vice-versa.

In the Ableton MIDI Track:

In MIDI From - Select Maschine-3 as the Input in both fields.
In MIDI To - Select Maschine-3 again and channel #1.
Turn off Monitoring, or you will get MIDI feedback.

Just note that if you're used to recording with loop on and overdub enabled, the midi will double on the second pass…

There is no MIDI track on your screenshots… Read my post again. The very fist sentence tells you to create a AL MIDI track and theres a picture of it at the end, you gotta record into that extra MIDI track.
