Native Access Hangs on Updates

Is there a way to get Native Access to update only 64-bit VST 's?? Effects and/or Instruments?

The Problem is Native Access 2 hangs when trying to update 32-bit VST.I have to manually go in to the task manager and end each plug-in update. The individual products STILL show up as updates available on the Native Access to APP .

This is a real PITA.

Help from ANY source will be appreciated.

From what I understand then NI no longer supports 32 Bit VST , in fact then if you wanted 32 bit then you would have had to download separately as written here.

So would you care to elaborate on what you are doing ?

Are you using latest version of Native Access for your OS as you are supposed to ?

A screenshot of any errors might help anybody who would want to try to assist.

Else then generally then perhaps completely uninstall the product and then remove in the NI reg tool also if there and then reboot computer and try reinstalling product.

The only "thing" I'm doing is pressing the update button in Native Access 2 . Ending that in the task manager ends the attempt to update the "32-bit version ", or so it is labeled in the task manager. There are NO audio apps running when attempting an update. Most updates work without any intervention.

Opening a support ticket was unsuccessful ,for some unknown reason,

You are not being specific , but the only '32 Bit' reference that I see on your screenshot that I think could be what you are referring to is the 'Bite Setup (32 bit)'.

As I wrote in the above :

So , try uninstalling Bite , then run the NI reg tool and remove Bite if there , then reboot computer to see if that helped. Then eventually reinstall Bite (64 bit) using latest version of Native Access for your OS .

If the above doesn't make NA behave then try the following :

Uninstall/remove Bite if there

Then run the NI reg tool and remove Bite if there

Uninstall NA

then delete the Native Access folder from %AppData%\Native Instruments\

Then reboot (important)

Then reinstall latest version of Native Access for your OS .

Then check if that helped…

I forgot I had the NI Registry tool

I was running V.3.20.00 NA2 and shouldn't have been a factor, nevertheless I uninstalled the hanging updates AND NA Vis Add/Remove programs as per NA 2 . I checked the Registry with the tool .

Nothing pertinent left according to the tool.

Installed NA 2 V. 3.22.

Rebooted computer several times for the sake of Microsoft's "RETARDED" registry implementation.

Started NA 2 V.3.22

Clicked on Install uninstalled effects starting with BITE (alphabetical)

SAME F****n issue.

The PROBLEM appears to be NA 2, upon either update or install commands via buttons, will download the compressed file to the C drive download folder BUT fails to decompress it, thereby pausing to progress the install/update.

This process took me 3 hours of valuable time I could have been making music.

If it were me - I would dial back doing "blanket" updates and just a few - one at a time to see which ones are behaving and which are not.

Hitting Update All is usually never a good thing - regardless of of how many updates are presented.

That is an option I have used

Unfortunately, it is not a consistent work around. sometimes it works other times it doesn't.

I have been dealing with it since NA2 has been released.

The only thing that works is download Via the install or update buttons and decompress the download and install manually. I wish there was an option to turn off updates. I don't want their updates at this point.

I can't be the only one with this problem.

One thing noted that may or may not be a factor is BOTH PC and mac versions are in the download.

Maybe that is confusing NA2?

I'm not a coder and wouldn't know where to begin…

There is an option to turn off updates. Simply do not open Native Access.

Sounds to me like there are other deeper issues on your install. Is this Windows 11 Home by any chance?

Win 11 Pro

All Programs work including NI except NA 2 is finicky.

If there are deeper issues they were created by the installer program

Well hundreds of thousands of us are running the same and not seeing the same.

Might be time to consult NI Support for a deeper dive.

Have you done this:

Start an elevated CMD prompt (Run as Admin)

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Followed by:

sfc /scannow

Just to rule out any OS instability.

You left out the

then delete the Native Access folder from %AppData%\Native Instruments\

If you did not do that then all the rest that you did would not work anyway…

There are many ways to corrupt files, and can crash a computer or cause annoying malfunctions. Including Security Issues.

Native Access seems to be working for now.

Back to making music please…

Thank you for the feedback. So deleting the Native Access folder (other than the ra3 file you mentioned) took care of the problem (maybe in combination with the other steps earlier) ?

As for the ra3 file would not delete then perhaps you had some program running , like Native Access or NTKDaemon ? Anyway , if problem is fixed then better leave things as is for now… 🙂
