I read about the exit of a new 4 channel console for traktor (MX4) in 2026, and i would like to know if that is true, only cause i want to buy an S4 but if the MX4 comes out, i'll wait.
Thanks.
Greetings from Italy.
Search the forum for MX4…
Yes, it's true.
has anyone new rumors about the release date?
the last was 2026 or early 2026. I received no answer from NI support how to order and if there will be a first edition (hoping for a white version).
Exact date is unknown.
I can't remember any Traktor product having a special first edition.
the s4 mk3 is out of stock in the NI shop and at some of the dealers in Germany.
So I hope for a release very soon.
NAMM 2026 this month?
Well I am afraid that MX4 will be a downgrade from S4 Mk3. What NI already told on a Q&A in public is that they get rid of active platters to keep the price low. We have to see if they had to cut other corners too. For me the active platters were the reason to get an S4 Mk3. Grew up with turntables therefore I never was a friend of passive jogs.
Thomann, the biggest dealer in Germany, marked the S4 as no longer available!!!
Thomann responded to me: Yes, s2, S3 & S4 are discontinued. The new 4 channel controler should be available spring 2026.
No pre order possible at the moment.
I'm on the same boat. I like motorized jogs. NI is looking for other kind of clients.
Sure, motorized platters would be nice, but (I think) for most dj's, they're not that important to warrant a higher price. I would like something that's a mashup of the S4 and S8. But every dj is different and to each his own.
The problem isn’t motorized platters but which kind of.
NI decided to implement these with haptic features based on brushless motor like drones. That made sense to keep the line up aesthetics but for the target that was aimed, you are right.
Meanwhile the market for motorized platters based controllers was Rane/Denon which are even more expensive than S4mk3 by long but die-hard scratch users wanted the so-called “technics feel” for professional gigging.
It was possible to develop and release an alternative solution, more portable and cheaper than Rane One?
Of course, Hercules did it but belt driven.
It was enough to fullfil the die-hards and open format market?
Judge by yourselves…
I will move from the Traktor ecosystem if the MX4 isn’t MIDI compatible right out of the box. With the recent insolvency news but lack of any updates I’m losing confidence. I’m not investing in a replacement for my S4 Mk3 without out of the box compatibility with Virtual DJ, DJ Pro, Serato etc etc. no way no how.
Same for me. But I’ve already moved to VDJ, it works amazingly well, especially now with recent S5 support. it feels 1000% better than Traktor…
I'll still buy the MX4 if it’s supported by VDJ & Djay.
I’ve realized Traktor’s main problem is the combination of its hardware and software. The hardware is limited by the software, and the software is limited by the hardware… pretty ironic.
