I'm left handed and it is without a doubt a right-handed world ðŸ˜
For all of the preset drum kits that come with and can be purchased for Maschine, I have to go through each one and re-arrange the pad layout then save it. for most kits it's a simple case of swapping kick and snare with the hi hats.
It makes the whole workflow of working with maschine clumsy and cumbersome and means I'm not getting the most out of it and facing a bigger barrier towards getting ideas flowing quickly.
However, in the case of software-programmed pads, I would've thought technology provides a great opportunity here to enhance accessibility.
It's not beyond the realm of reason to think that a reverse mode could easily be coded into the software or the firmware then toggled on or off with a button in the software or on the device. All you have to do is essentially is write a script to tell it that pad 1=4 and pad 2=3 etc…
It's a bit different from the physical limitations a lefty faces with something like a guitar for example, because this could be solved with a snippet of code and a little UI tweak and then serve hundreds or thousands of people in one go.
It may also be of benefit to right-handed players who simply prefer to have their hi hat on the left!
I would very much like to see a feature like this implemented for Maschine especially as NI seem to be promoting Accessibility of their devices here, I would have thought this would go a very long way towards making their devices more accessible to a huge number of people whose dominant hand is on the other side and provide NI with a huge edge over competitors. I'm going to guess that there is just as many if not more left handed people and people who prefer it "the other way around" than there are visually impaired people using mashcine - I could be wrong of course, I'm sure there are substantial numberof people in both camps who deserve to be catered for.
