Native Access will not install Kontakt Player 8.5 which I need to run my new Session Guitarist libra

Hoping someone has some ideas here. I bought Session Guitarist Ruby which requires Kontakt/Kontakt Player 8.5. I had Kontakt Player 8.1 installed so I opened Native Access to try to update to the latest version (which I am assuming is v8.5 based on the above requirement for Ruby). Lo and behold Native Access is telling me that yes I do have v8.1 of K8 Player installed and there is no option to update it to v8.5. NA seems to think v8.1 is the latest version of Kontakt Player.

So I went through the usual troubleshooting steps:

Completely uninstall Kontakt 8 (also used the NI Registry tool to try to remove anything related to K8 Player, nothing showed up in the tool for K8 though).
Uninstalled Native Access and deleted "NativeAccess.xml" from the Service Center folder on my machine.
Downloaded the latest Native Access version and installed it
Rebooted my machine

And after all of that Native Access is still telling me that I have v8.1 of Kontakt 8 Player installed and giving no option to update.

I would really appreciate any ideas anyone has to get my Kontakt 8 player updated to v8.5 so I can use the new Session Guitarist library I paid for. Otherwise it's off to support hell, hoping to avoid that if possible.

Search in your installation drive for "Service Center" - it should be something like -
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center

Move Kontakt 8.xml out of this folder (so you have a backup).

Reload Native Access, and then install Kontakt 8 again - the latest version should be 8.8 (full Kontakt) - although I'm not sure if Kontakt Player is on the same version - I use Full.

This should bring you up to date - but reply if you still have issues.

If you are not seeing the latest updates - which for Kontakt is v8.8.0 as of a day ago - your OS is most likely out of date.

You list Windows 10 - but which exact version? It must be 22H2 for NA to offer you the very latest.

Thanks for the replies. As far as the "Kontakt 8.xml" file in the Service Center folder, there isn't any file by that name in that folder unfortunately. Nothing like "Kontakt 8 Player.xml" either. So apparently Kontakt 8 Player is configured differently than the full version.

As for the windows version, I've had my updates disabled for years due to issues every time it updates. That would suck to have to update just to use this library I just bought… I'm going to see if I can get a refund from NI. Thanks for the help.

Cannot imagine why you wouldn't want to update - as this is just the start of updates you won't get.

But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

The trouble with that, is that you're now running an unsupported system, which will ironically create more problems for you with the passage of time.

Yeah I understand your points but I've been fine for 6+ years with no windows updates, I used to waste so much time dealing with having to clean up after windows updates and having things break in my DAW and elsewhere for many updates. My life has been blissful with no updates until this issue, it's only becuase I want to run the new Session Guitarist, but I can live without the session guitarist if I need to. I'm actually going to ask for a refund from NI because I prefer my update free existence.

The only thing I would add, as a Windows 11 user, is I haven't had anything in my DAW (Cubase) break, in about two years, and I have around 800 plugins (too many), in additions to hunreds of Kontakt libraries.

Windows 11 in my experience is more than stable enough. Far more so than Mac Os (This is not a dig, but should be :P)
