Looking for suggestions for SSD for Komplete 15 Ultimate

Hello,

I have a 1TB MacBook Air M1 and am running out of SSD capacity due to the Komplete 12 Ultimate taking up so much space. I'm looking at an setting up an external 2TB/4TB SSD and wondered what SSD's people suggest?

I've been looking at the Samsung 990 EVO Plus M.2 NVME with TLC Cache, however this doesn't include DRAM Cache.

Is DRAM required for loading audio library content in Kontakt?

I am by no means a professional musician and do this as a hobby where my real work is in IT.

I don't know with respect to the DRAM question , but I use the previous generation (PCIe 4.0) of this one as internal drives on my PC and that is my personal recommendation : Kingston FURY Renegade G5 PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2

I used one of these enclosures with the Samsung 990 SSD. Easily fast enough for library storage. I'm using it with an M3 MacBook and an M4 Mini and no problems. I've also got a Crucial X9 4TB which is pretty fast as well.

The endurance is not that great for the Samsung 990 EVO (specs pdf link) or Pro. At least not compared to the Kingston that I suggested. Link to Samsung drive page.

Samsung 990 EVO / Pro endurance = 600 TBW per TB , versus Kingston Fury Renegade endurance = 1000 TBW per TB.

This is what I use. I have two of them for my setup. They work perfectly fine, are easy to set up (basically plug and play) and I've not had any issues with installing NI material on them. Relatively inexpensive, very portable and work from unpowered USB hubs, which is obviously a consideration with laptops.

For a data drive holding sample libraries TBW isn't really relevant unless you're continually rewriting the data, and both have a five year warranty anyway. As @Lionzinio says, the Crucial drives are relatively cheap and you don't need to worry about an external case.
