Does Noire works with 88 keys digital piano ?

Hello,

I want to register myself with my 88 keys digital piano, it only has a Midi output, will it work with virtual instruments such as Noire ? What will I need more to make it work ? A DAW ? I am new in computer music and not everything is clear to me yet

Assuming you want to record music then:

Yes, you can control Noire with any MIDI keyboard. I'd suggest you start by getting a copy of Komplete Start which is free and contains lots of software and instruments to get you started. You can get that from here - https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/

That gets you a bunch of instruments and effects, including a few pianos. They're not as good as Noire of course, but they'll let you let you check that your keyboard works.

As far as a DAW goes, you could probably start with the free version of Cakewalk - https://cakewalk.com There are lots of different DAWs at different price points, but they all work in same general way.

As an overview - Noire is an instrument that loads into the Kontakt sampler (included in Komplete Start). You can play it without any DAW by starting Komplete as a standalone application. The DAW will let you record instruments to produce finished songs. When you're using a DAW you load Kontakt into the DAW as a VST instrument then load Noire into Kontakt.

As mykejb wrote then you can use the Kontakt 8 Player (from free Komplete Start) with Midi input only after that you have setup Audio and Midi in the app. What you are missing by not having an NI NKS compatible controller is the deeper integration between keyboard and software (depending on keyboard you would have to use either the Komplete Kontrol app or both the KK app and Kontakt 8 Player).

A good and rather cheap DAW for beginners is Mixcraft which has a trial and is often seen on sale like %50 off and has many tutorial videos (Mixcraft 10 University 101 , Mixcraft 10 University 202 , Mixcraft 10 Videos).

On the subject of DAW then you also get a free Ableton Live Lite DAW with NI keyboards as well as a little more free software by getting the Komplete 15 Select (to get the full version of NI apps then you would have to upgrade to Komplete Standard or better later)

The NI Discord is more of a hangout place and is not suitable for beginners needing help for that please use the forum that you are in now (there is no support or troubleshooting on the Discord server !).
