Custom Stand for Maschine+ (Also Fits Mk3)

I’ve been working on a custom 3D-printed stand designed specifically for the Maschine Plus, but it also fits the Maschine Mk3. The stand is angled for a comfortable workflow, features recessed feet so the unit stays firmly in place, and includes non-slip pads on the bottom for extra stability.

For added versatility, the design supports an optional drum stand adapter. The body uses a honeycomb pattern for optimal airflow and strength, while keeping weight down. There’s also space for a top-loadable power bank and hard drive to keep everything self-contained and gig-ready.

Looks cool. I'd maybe swap places between the external drive and powerbank, so the screen of the power bank faces back and is visible.

I doubt you actually need the honeycomb pattern on the triangles sides for structural support, at least if you print them horizontally… Or is it for aesthetics?

Good point on the power bank vs. drive placement! I set it up that way originally for cable routing, but flipping them so the power bank’s screen faces back definitely makes sense. I’ll try that out in the next iteration.

The honeycomb cutouts aren’t needed structurally—you’re right, printing horizontally gives it plenty of strength. For me, it just looked better aesthetically and helped keep the design visually lighter.

I’m already working on an improved version, so this will evolve. I’m also planning to add my branding and give users some customization options, like color choices or name plate mounts for the sides and rear.

Appreciate the input—it really helps to refine where this design could go.

Another suggestion could be to also realize a “less angled” version.

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I always felt more comfortable working with Maschine not so vertical (in facts I prefer to keep it without any stand).

Your stand is quite high and could be not so interesting for people like me loving to work with Maschine resting their wrists on the table

IDK how complicated you want to make this but as far as the interior, "put this or that" inside you could make it modular, perhaps use the honey-comb pattern as a way to snap-in module-cages for different SSD's, Mini-computers, powerbanks, a usb fan(?) etc… Similar to GridFinity. This would complicate the project a fair bit but could be worth it if you plan on selling the printed stand + addons.

@D-One – I’m 100% with you on the modular idea. The GridFinity-style snap-in cages for SSDs, power banks, or even a small fan are exactly the kind of direction I want to take this. The goal is to have a solid base stand, but with optional add-ons that people can swap or customize depending on their setup.

@SeqsuaI – The Mac Mini suggestion is awesome. That opens up a whole other level of integration, and I’d love to experiment with a swappable rear panel or cage system that could house compact computers while still managing airflow and cables cleanly.

On the honeycomb pattern — it’s more aesthetic than structural, but I like the look and it helps reduce material a bit. That said, I can redesign the side panels so they’re modular too — maybe let users choose between honeycomb, solid, or even a branded/nameplate insert.

As for placement — the power bank is a bit tricky. It has the power button on the right, ports in front, and the display on top. It’s too tall to stand upright at the rear, and if rotated 180° the display ends up sideways. For now, I’ll likely keep it in its current spot but raise the rear end so it sits on an angle, making the screen and ports more accessible.

The bigger evolution I see is:

Portability — making it easy to pack up.
Universal snap-in spaces — for drives, power, or other accessories.
Adjustable angle — so users can tweak the stand to their preference.
Accessory accessibility — no matter the combo people use.

It does get complicated when you think of all the possible variables and different setups people might have, but that’s part of the fun of pushing the design forward.

It’s super motivating to see the different ways people imagine using this!

probably a stupid question, but - in this scenario, how do you power down the Mac mini when you are done using it, in a way that shuts down and saves your project properly and stuff?

I imagine for boot up you could set up some kind of script or something that automatically opens up the Maschine software. But what about closing everything down safely?

Someone shared a long time a ago a script that auto launches Maschine app when a Maschine controller is connected, by USB detection, I guess the same could be done for when it stops detecting to auto power down… In the days of chatgpt you just have it write it for you.

On windows you could write a simple bat file that would shut down the PC when you close the Maschine Software, No idea on Mac.

On Mac, start up is easy - add Maschine to "login items" and it will open automatically. To shut down I sometimes simply turn off the computer from the switch - I always make a "new file" in Maschine before doing that to avoid recovery dialog on next start up (not sure if it is still needed)…

But what is very handy is that if you have another Mac (eg laptop) and both Macs are on the same wifi and use the same Apple account, you can "share screen" from Mini to laptop if you need to…

There are some apps that can translate MIDI commands to computer actions (eg shortcuts) - I have used BOME with success some time ago.

Super interesting. A machine mk3 with a Mac Mini under the stand could be a powerhouse indeed, like a turbo-charged M+ with all the plugins you could want, yet still very portable. Could do full live sets with just that

I did the Mac under the MK3 8 years ago…wow, it’s impressive the mk3/+ doesn’t feel dated for being so old. I’ve designed several solutions, I even peddled one on Reverb for a while, it was a pair of lil stands that fit around the rear pads that you can rotate for different pitch angles. I’ve since upgraded to the M+ and don’t remember what happened the walnut stand in the photo. My recent solution was to attach mags to the bottom of the M+ and have a batt pack click in. It’s ok, I could do better. I also use an RF transmitter so I don’t even need a cable for cans or speakers. It’s been fun being cable free and jamming with my son in his nursery. He loves smashing pads!

I’d focus on making it the best stand for you, you can take advice but implementing everything will be impossible. I for one think your pitch looks uncomfortable to use but I know allot of peeps prefer that. The advantage is tons of space for add ons, the disadvantage is portability. The one thing you should not compromise on, IMO, is your pitch angle. The more comfortable it is the more you will use it.

Build it, use it for a while, iterate, repeat. Oh, and have fun, I did.

Personally, I think I know my end game but with my luck, the day I finish, NI will release some new hardware that I can’t resist and it won’t be compatible.

I would like to recommend these little things:

They are sturdy, have 2 different height levels (21 and 42 mm) and gray-colored ones are quite a good match to M+ color. 9 mm when closed is a little bit more than original M+ rubber stands, but its ok.
