Why is installed software asking me for my google password?

I signed up for the free vst plugins. I used google single sign on to create an account. Then downloaded the plugins. Now, once installed, the plugins want me to sign in. Fair enough. But when choosing google sign in, it's asking me for my gmail adress and and password. So my question is ******.

How would anyone trust any other company than google inc with their gmail password?

There obviously is some kind of misunderstanding here. N.I. might need you to log-in in some cases but they of course will not ask you to give N.I. your Google password.

When it says "Sign on with Google" it means a normal Google account. The SSO thing is a different kettle of fish (some kind of enterprise cloud thing, from a quick search).

You can create a Native Instruments ID using "Sign up with Google".

If you choose that option it will ask for your Google password to authenticate when you log into Native Access.
