Installation Failed issue on MacOs Sequoia

Hi.

I have decided to do a fresh install of my audio production system, on a separate partition of the same system drive as before.

All has been going well, except i am now having issues with installing various libraries through Native Access.

The first 10 or so installs went fine, but now a bunch of stuff is throwing the error “Installation Failed”

Please see pics. I have enabled both Full Disk Access and Local Network Access to everything NI related that I can see, and found referenced on the support website. I’ve removed and re-added Native Access and all the NI Demons to these locations multiple times.

Im even getting an error when relocating a library, say i move the Rise and Hit sample library from my old system and choose to locating it.

Absynth 5 installation is also failing, and that doesn’t have any external libraries I think.

Yet im able to install libraries like "Hot Vocals" with no issue.

Any ideas on what the issue could be? Any help appreciated, thankyou!

@R3kl355 I'm afraid that this newly created partition might have created a mess. Having external drives or apps relating to 2 different partitions will create conflicts. I would definitely recommend to contact our support explaining the issue in detail and all these things you did before the issue started to happen. Yes, that makes sense. Though ive done my best to separate all the data between installs, i can think of a few scenarios where conflicts could persist.

For now i have been able to get around the issue buy installing all libraries to /users/shared, moving them manually to my external sample disk, and re-linking them in Native Access. That took a while.

(Except for KK Previews, which only seem to work from the location they're originally installed to, so ill keep them at users/shared.)

Seems to be working for now, and all updates so far have installed correctly to where I want them too. I will reach out to support if anything gets funky.

While you do give some description here then I not being you it still is very hard to follow what you did exactly

Please define "a fresh install of my audio production system" on a separate partition of the same system drive as before. . Do you mean that you reinstalled the OS ? , most likely not , most likely you mean some software parts…

If you have remnants on the present OS of a software installation on another partition then no matter if you removed the old stuff (which we do not even know if you did) or not then there could could be some leftovers somewhere that disturbs it all (in particular N.A.).

My advice is that you , while keeping it to essential , try to describe the procedure that you have done in more details so that we know what you have actually done. (?)

Unless you got it all when removing then I am not sure if that would help…

Do you have enough space on both the download and content drives ?

I made a second partition on my mac system drive, installed a fresh copy of macOS there, and started installing all my applications on it from scratch.

My older macOS install has remnants of data on it from as long as 15 years ago, so it was time to make a fresh one.

I do it this way so that i have an operational backup of my old install to work from until my new install is 100% tested and functional.

My external sample library drives are shared between the partitions, but all my newly installed NI libraries are being put in a new, separate folder for now

The thought crossed my mind, but the old partition has been unmounted and there is still an issue.

I also inserted a fresh external drive, and tried installing DP-06 Plus there. Same issue.

Unless you got it all when removing then I am not sure if that would help…

To clarify, i removed and re-added all NI associated entries inside System Prefererences > Privacy and Security > Full Disk Access and Local Network.

Ive been testing further this morning, and it sees DP-06 Plus will install correctly at the default native Access library location (/Users/Shared) but throws an error when I try to install it on any of my external drives.

Its like the Full Disk Permissions i am granting Native Access and NTKDaemon doesnt actally grant those permissions for some things im trying to install.

Full disk access isn't "Allow access to everything on every disk", it allows access to what Apple call "sensitive data" like Calendar, Contacts, Mail and other personal data.

Do the external partitions have any non-standard permissions, and are they formatted as APFS? Does NTKDaemon have access to Removable Volumes so it can write to external drives?

Not really, it's not only for this. Having it unchecked for our apps can cause issues.

Full Disk Access lets NI apps and plug-ins read/write everywhere they might need to — including folders macOS normally guards — so they can:

Access sample libraries, presets, and user content stored in locations outside the standard Music folder (sometimes in hidden Library folders).
Save and recall project data, plug-in settings, and authorization files that DAWs load from multiple locations.
Communicate with the DAW and other NI tools via shared configuration files or databases that may live in protected areas (e.g., /Library, hidden ~/Library/Application Support paths).

Standard permissions, formatted for APFS. NTKDaemon has full disk access. Not all installs are having issues btw.
