Brand new guy

Hi all, I am a singer/songwriter and I have been playing out for 20 years, I finally decided to get myself a piece of sophisticated maschinery, and went ahead and bought the MK3. Super excited about it! I am a total greenie and am not totally tech savvy, so its going to be a challenge, but I am committing myself. They sent me 4 free expansions, (not sure what those are) a $25 gift card and a bunch of emails. Any suggestion for a newbie would be great! My forte is singing and songwriting eclectic rock n' roll, punk, folk, etc. on my acoustic, but I'm also open to what ever sounds awesome in the world of beats! I've been to plenty of raves, just never dove into this stuff before personally, and am totally excited to do so! I downloaded Maschine 2 and am going to stick to the free software for now until I start to get the hang of this, as I'm sure this will be "a bit" of a learning curve.
Happy Producing!

Hello and welcome.
For someone new, Id highly recommend diving into the Manuals of the products which you are getting, some of which are downloadable and others are just online. You just drill down on the products page and you'll find manuals there for each product or they have another place where you can get manuals on their website.
The NI eco system takes quite a lot to get your head around with all the different file systems and different types of products. Take your time and its a good move to just see how you go with the freebies and get your feet wet that way. On the other hand they're just about to wind up on their summersale. Check that out and see what you think. There's good savings ATM but you dont want to buy in before you're ready either.

Be sure to claim your Ableton Live Lite which ought to be referred to in one of the emails and you can most likely also find the serial under third party serials or unregistered serials on the MY PRODUCTS, SERIALS, AND DOWNLOADS page .
Also if you have not done so then be sure to use the voucher for the Komplete Select. You are supposed to go to the N.I. site and buy the Komplete 15 Select of your choice for zero using the voucher code .
am going to stick to the free software for now
Generally I would agree but since a lot of free stuff can not be used without the full version of the N.I. apps then I will highly recommend that once you have Komplete 15 Select on account then you should get the Komplete 15 Standard upgrade for Komplete Select. Software wise then Komplete 15 Standard is one of the best investments that you can do - especially when bought at a sale. Compare Komplete 15 bundles . Also at present then for Komplete bundle updates ? /upgrades ? then possibly the code "Jef10" might work at checkout for an additional 10% off! Until June 30 .

Having the full version of e.g. Kontakt will allow you to use a lot of free or cheap third party Kontakt stuff.
