New MacBook Pro M4 Max 36GB/1TB Traktor Pro 4 setup help

so I’ve just now played “beat the tariffs” on a new M4 Max MacBook Pro-I currently have Traktor 3.6.2 installed but I’ve got the Mac storage optimized so I always get the warning. Here’s my plan and I could use some help.

  1. I am planning on completely moving my mp3/track library to an external SSD.
  2. I’m planning on setting the new MacBook Pro up fresh (only doing a thunderbolt port over of my other non mp3/music related stuff) and the using native access to upgrade to Traktor Pro 4 with my upgrade price.

In the new Mac OS-there is the ability to “keep downloaded” files/folders you want local-my question(s) are

1. Will that work for the Traktor 3.6.2 collection/playlist import or will it be a broken collection/fail a consistency check because the music is scattered?

2. How can I either

A. get my current Traktor collection/playlists re-pointed to the music tracks on the external hard drive?
B. Otherwise migrate my playlists and collection re-pointing to the mp3 files which will now be on a hard drive and/or have them on my new MacBook Pro?

Please help! Thanks in advance. Began having this convo the other day but I’ve bit the bullet now and I’m anxious to transfer over and get my S4Mk3 up and running for a nice DJ set on the new machine.

You should be able to copy all your music to the external drive then do a consistency check in Traktor to sync the collection.

I'd suggest installing Traktor 3 on the new Mac and copy the entire Traktor folder from the old Mac to the new one. It'll be called Traktor 3.6.2 in the Documents/Native Instruments folder. Copy all the music to the external drive, plug it into the new Mac then run Traktor. Use consistency check to relocate your music and you should be good to go. Once that's working do the upgrade to TP4.

Doing it like this leaves your current working Mac in an untouched working state, so if everything goes downhill for some reason you can just delete it all and try again.

Mykejb-you’re quite the godsend around here! Thanks so much for always popping up to assist!

So I did the migration assistant, brought over TP3.6, then installed M chip Native Access, did the upgrade to TP4, has been seamless (so far) it brought in playlists and collection. THEN I ran a consistency check and out of 10K tracks I was only missing 5! THEN I did an “export collection NML” to my SSD and copied tracks!
The big test will be in an hour when I setup the S4Mk3 here and try to let er rip.
