Maschine Mikro III as midi device ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

perhaps I am being stupid(?) but I can’t seem to use the mikro pads (in midi mode) as a controller in logic (such as using it with Kontakt)

my mikro iii only turns on/ lights up when I open an instance of maschine as a plug in within logic.?.?

whilst I CAN select maschine mikro as a input midi source as it appears in the drop down list in MIDI TRACK my maschine controller isn’t switch ‘ON’ / lit up ?.

an issue might be that the mikro does NOT appear in the OSX MIDI STUDIO as a device ??

thx in advance

are you putting it in midi mode , shift and maschine logo

open controller editor app , check if there’s a template loaded

I am putting it in midi mode but — the controller only switches on when I load the maschine plugin.

should it not just work as a standard midi controller for logic instruments?

it can work as a midi controller, but it requires a template , not sure if there’s a template pre installed, and even if there is , it’s probably not set up for logic that well

    Open controller editor

Check the template , or create and add one , off the top of my head for logic you want to create 8 pages for the notes , set them to midi channel 2 ( channel 1 controls mcu in logic ) to change note bank on the controller I think you use the group buttons , might have to check the manual for that

I did have a template for the mikro 3 and logic , I’ll see if I can find it , , I made it years ago , I don’t use logic or the mikro anymore, but it might still work

here’s the template I made , and the link to the original post at the old forum

I added a load of functionality to the other buttons on top of the pads

not sure what i did, but in the process of using a port with more usb power available it started switching on in midi mode. i put it back on the (more convenient) underpowered port and it still works so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • thanks for the help. i have tried using the controller editor and it would be nice to switch on the DAW transport controls, but the template changes don't persist and is apparently an issue that people have long had headaches about — and going back a year in the forum you'd think it would be fixed by now … but nope, and i dont fancy the headache trying to combat the bug unless someone has an off the shelf easy suggestion…. only ever maschine 3 on osx sonoma. : )
