a key doesn't work on my Kontrol S88 MK2 keyboard

Q: Translation inserted by Moderator (translationby DeepL)
My keyboard is brand new, it's been used twice, but it's no longer under warranty. A key on the keyboard no longer works, the blue LED is lit up, but when I press the key, it doesn't turn light blue like the other keys. Apparently, this is very expensive to repair in the native instruments department. Have you found a solution? Thank you for your support.

Have you found a solution?
Other than self-repair which is risky and an advanced project then no.
You probably ought to reset the midi template/load an empty template just to be sure that it is not that kind of issue.. You should be able to do that using the Komplete Kontrol software , check this page. And the manual is here.
You can ask N.I. Hardware Support for a price quote , but as you write yourself then repairs generally is expensive and often doesn't pay.
Alternatively then you can sell the keyboard as defect and buy another keyboard.

You may find its as simple as cleaning the contacts under the rubber velocity membrane. If you are not afraid to open it up. There are plenty of videos on YouTube.
Some Alcohol and a Q-Tip is all you need to clean the contact. Probably a little bit of dust is preventing the carbon contacts making a closed circuit.

thank you rdalcroft for your support (I am French). but I can't find any videos on YouTube that talk about cleaning keyboard keys, more specifically cleaning contacts, on the KONTROL S. Could you send me a link..? THANKS

hello.
Here are a few links.
https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/1437/s88-mk2-noisy-keys-fixed-instructions/p1
My page for noisy key fix.
this will show you how to open it up and remove the keys. You will need to remove the full octave where the dead key is. As the rubber membranes comes off in 1 octaves length. (12 contacts).
For a different keyboard but same rubber velocity membrane use this as a guide for cleaning with these 2 videos it’s all you need good luck

you are welcome. Good luck with your repair. I hope it fixes the issue for you.
But will also prepare you for when you may need to re grease the keys when they start to become noisy and clicky. In about 1 years time.

Is it happening in your DAW, in Komplete Kontrol in standalone or both?
