No sound in midi mode

Hi all, I've had my Micro MK3 for a month now and I've searched through so many YouTube videos and threads in this community and others for answers but I still cannot get the sound to work in MIDI mode.

I use the latest version of Logic Pro 11 and have updated the firmware on the device. I am able to play and hear sounds when playing outside of midi mode but unable to record the sound when hitting 'R' the track is empty without any recording data. When in midi mode there is no sounds at all, but when I hit record it does show velocity data is being captured but still also no sound.

I suspect it may be due to ports not being connected, but in the drop down menu there is no option for me to select anything. It just says "not connected". Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

What I see in your screenshots is the Input tab of your MacBook Pro Speakers not giving any choice (again: for the Inputs). Isn’t this normal?

To eventually hear sounds you should check the Output tab (from the screenshot we cannot see how it is set up).

Another thing that is not so clear is what you want to play in midi mode and if it is set up to receive midi from your Mikro MK3.

Btw: if this is the screenshot of Maschine preferences, something is strange: if you use it inside of Logic as a plugin, some options should not be there (the audio settings should be managed by Logic, not by Maschine).

If you are using Maschine software standalone, this should not have anything to do with Mikro in midi mode controlling instruments in Logic…

I think there is some confusion in all of this ☺️

Try to describe what you want to do and we’ll see if we can help you with explanations on how to achieve it

    Some “general” explanations:

Midi Mode: once your Mikro is in Midi Mode, Maschine software is not “involved” (in some way…maybe it’s better to say “it’s not necessary”). Your Mikro is sending Midi messages that then must be received by something.
If eg you want to play an instrument loaded in a Logic track, you must tell to Logic that Mikro is a controller sending messages to it and also “activate” it in the track.

Maschine software: if used standalone or as a plugin inside of Logic, controller mode will control it automatically. Putting Mikro in Midi Mode will just send MIDI messages that then must be mapped to something.

Audio settings in Maschine software: they are taken in consideration only in standalone mode. Once Maschine software is used as a plugin inside of another DAW, the DAW settings are the ones to be taken in consideration (the audio menu in Maschine settings should not even be visible).
