CustomMaschineMK3 - Open source Ableton MIDI Remote Script for Maschine MK3 and Plus

Hi everyone.
This is a quick introduction of my custom MIDI Remote Script.

Motivation

As you know, we already have MIDI Remote Script for Maschine MK3.
I couldn't be satisfied with these because of the lack of features and the experience of use.
Then I decided to make a better one from scratch.

Feature Summary

Transport Control
- Basic playback control, loop metronome ON / OFF, and tap tempo
Session View Control
- Clip and scene trigger and stop
- Copy and delete available
- Fixed-length recording
3 Keyboard Modes (Auto-switching)
- Normal: Typical MIDI keyboard integrated with Live's scale mode
- Drum Rack: Trigger drum pads in Drum Rack device, and pad LED colors reflect each pad color and states (mute or solo)
- Simpler: If Simpler playback mode is "Slicing", you can trigger and edit simpler slices
Additional Features for Keyboard Modes
- Note repeat
- Fix note-on velocity to 127
- 16 fixed velocity levels mode for selected note pitch / drum pad / simpler slice
- Select notes in clip
Step Sequencer
- Edit clip notes by pressing pads (tweak note position / length / velocity available)
- Select focused bar by group buttons
- Copy, paste, and erase each bar
Touch Strip Features
- Pitch bend
- Control device / mixer parameter
- Crossfader control
Device Control
- Select device and control its parameters
- Custom parameter banks are available for Simpler, Wavetable, EQ Eight, Hybrid Reverb, and Meld
Mixer Control (updated to 8-track version since v1.3)
- Change volume, panning, and send amount
- Select, arm, mute, and solo track
- Change crossfader assign
Clip Editor
- Edit various clip properties
- Example: clip start, clip length, loop settings, warp settings, launch settings, mute, pitch, gain, etc…)
Simple Browser
- It works!… But it's isolated from Ableton Live's internal browser
Text Display
- Show parameter values and states about selected mode
Custom MIDI Mapping Mode
- Dedicated 16x knobs and buttons (8 elements, 2 pages) for MIDI mapping
Various Operations
- Change master track volume
- Change groove amount
- Fast-forward, rewind playing position
- Jump to next or previous cue point
- Change song tempo
- Change scale options (ON / OFF, scale mode, root note)
- Switch main view between session and arrangement

It is possible to post links here, but it's a little awkward. You have to manually highlight the text to get a small popup menu. The link icon (on the right) is the one you need.

Select that and enter the URL in the top part. The text you highlighted should already be in the lower part. Then you have to press Enter on your keyboard to confirm it.

Oohh nice!! ~~Why are you checking for the specific device ID of the MK3? Scripts usually do that to differentiate between several different controllers in case some have more capabilities than others… (??)~~

I removed the check, made a Controller Editor template matching yours for the Maschine Plus and it seems to be working fine. I only did some light testing, but it fetches track names, step sequencer works, volumes, moving the session box around, etc… I dont have much free time these days to mock about and help unfortunately but it's great to see someone making such amazing stuff open source, kudos!

Here, in case anyone wants to try:

In Ableton's prefs I just selected the M+ Virtual Ports.

The reason of checking device ID is I just followed other scripts form. As far as I know, this capability code don't prevent using script with other device like Maschine+.

For example, Ableton Live's Mackie Control script specified original Mackie's device ID (I checked decompiled code), but it works well with Maschine Mackie Control template too. (I tested on only Windows, I will do some tests on Mac to verify my thought.)

I think this script can adopt to M+ with small changes. Only one thing I concerned about is "SHIFT" button works properly or not.

Maschine+ version template added to repository, I will officially support Maschine+ if someone tested.

No prob 😁 Oh, you're right, the check doesn't prevent anything, I must have done something else incorrectly at first.

It's not the same, the 5th and 6th Byte are different in the Sysex message. 0x18 0x20 respectively. After that change Shift works.

Sorry, I would directly send a pull request with propper code for both Sysex to save you some work but I am not well-versed with Github shenanigans, I'm not a dev just a curious idiot. haha

I quickly tested it a bit more and it seems to work fine, I must say I am very impressed with this much functionality.

I already updated script to make shift button works on Maschine+, thanks for providing info!

Even myself, total amount of mappings is yet unknown. Maybe 150 or more…?

Hi, this is quick share of development progress.

Device navigation improvement is almost completed. In next release you can select device nested in rack device.

Hold PLUG-IN button and rotate encoder to move device focus. (This may change to be able without holding PLUG-IN)

Also you can toggle device collapsing state by hold PLUG-IN button and press upper buttons.
