I have an X10 as well. Mac cant make use of the USB Gen 3.2 2x2. So you wont get 20gbit only 10gbit. So money on the X10 is wasted for Macs, at laest at the moment. 10gbit drives are cheaper…

Oh wow. Thunderbolt 5 is quite expensive and I dont think there's any benefit for Audio but would love to see some comparisons.
I went with an Acasis Thunderbolt 3 enclosure (60$) + WB Black NVME SSD, the speed is half of yours but still insane VS the typical samsung plug-and-play drives most people recommend and 100x faster than old spinning external HD's. I think this is the best bang-for-buck for a multi-purpose drive, moving 100GB in like 2min is insane already.
Testing the above VS my other normal USB 3 10Gbps (1GB/s) cheap enclosures (25/30$) I didn't notice any significant difference using samples, loading heavy Kontakt instruments, etc. Maybe for orchestral templates when people use 80 instances of Kontakt it might add up.

yes you‘re right for sure it‘s not needed, that‘s why i said i wanted to nerd😃. And it‘s expensiv but extremly fast. And the fact that it‘s faster than internal storage is hilarious… But i read a lot about people having issue with that setup and wanted to report that it works stable and temps are good as well with a custom thermal pad…bang for the buck i would go with yours…
