I guess we can now see what the NI staff was working on instead of any of the promised updates to their Kontrol MK3…a $50/month subscription plan with a once every 30 day DRM auth! Yipee!!

We had this discussion already - no need to go through it yet again:

Bottom line is: This subscription is meant for people new to NI who don't have a lot of money to spend outright and perpetual licenses won't go away.

Also, when will people finally learn that different teams work on different areas in a company? Those responsible for Komplete Kontrol don't work on pricing.

They will DRM the entirety of the plug in base. The perpetual license will not actually be a perpetual license, but require a once a month auth that will require agreeing to terms of service that let them rip whatever data they want off your computer. And saying a $50/month subscription is somehow for people who don’t have a lot of money is COMICAL. NI is not charging much more than that for the basic Komplete package so you keep that 🧢. This is a private equity money grab that is anti-consumer; anti-music; and anti-everything NI used to stand for.

You are doing a 'rant' and it's not well done. As already pointed out by Monochrome in the above then different N.I. 'Teams' are working on different things. (as for Teams working just on Kontrol then see the section Appendix: The Team(s) in the post here) So what this 'NI360' subscription project most likely have done is to take away valuable time from other aspects of Native Access development and maybe even have caused some of the experienced "the stuff suddenly gone demo in Native Access" by the N.A. team doing adjustments and what not to the server side of N.A. Also for your information then I and a lot of others here have zero interest in the NI360 subscription and N.I. knows that and I will quote Hayo_NI for you : I want to reiterate that we have 0 plans to replace perpetual license support. We'll continue to support both ecosystems.

Their last update was beta in April

    Not correct , last update were May 6th : Quote Matthew_NI , May 6th , 2024

At ´Duffcat , I had posted elsewhere - we paused Accessibility to focus fully on MIDI Templates, so that we could get it out ASAP. It's pretty much the one team's only focus in May and would hopefully land in beta in that time also.

I am calling right now that they can’t do midi templates on this device. It’s not happening.

This is the same 'rant' and nothing but a 'rant'. Despite N.I. having done something like releasing the S-Series MK3 without the midi templates ready then it is crucial to the future of the keyboard that it is both done and delivered so of course this is going to happen. Yes, there has been delays , and yes that's not exactly great , and yes it has upset some people , like you , which is regrettable , but never the less it is going to be done though with an unfortunate delay. I myself (not a NI employee) expects the midi template ability, at least initial version, to be delivered within a month or two. (I might be too optimistic here but still it is going to happen)

Never said they would take perpetual license away. I said they would DRM all the products with a 30 day auth, which they 100% will do imo since they seem to have copied the Roland Cloud, which is equally horrible. And the midi templates will not happen. Agree to disagree. Last, I am not interested in your critique or opinion of my post. I will pass on criticizing your grammar in a similar rude way.

This is a forum. You ought not post anything if you are not interested in getting a response.

    This isn't true, either.

That's a different team. The hardware teams have nothing to do with implementing the subscriptions - we're still working on the features we've said we're working on.

    This is also not true.

Perpetual products do not have any 30 day cycle.

MIDI Templates are happening. We're working on them at the moment.

You're confusing and conflating topics and none of this is helpful. This thread will be closed.

Also - this is the Komplete Kontrol forum.

Post threads about content subscriptions elsewhere in the forum.

Thread moved to Komplete General as per Matthew_NI's indirect request (At Matthew_NI , sorry for not noticing myself)

Not sure where you got the info about the 30 day DRM auth from, but for the record to anyone coming across this thread in the future: perpetual licenses will continue to be offered alongside 360.
