Duplicates of tracks downloading in Collection

Hey Guys,

I've been noticing many of my tracks are showing duplicates in my Track collection folder. I think they are different files of the same track? When I check my downloads I can see the tracks have been copied to my Itunes collection as well as showing up in VLC media player. Perhaps this is what is causing the issues?

If I change my file management to only read tracks from VLC (Not itunes), i'm worried I will have a bunch of missing files displaying in my collection and will then have to manually delete all the duplicates 1 by 1. Can anyone suggest a more efficient/effective way to get rid of the duplicates? They are hogging a ton of Hard drive space on my laptop and making it hard to navigate my collection. Thanks so much!

Have you tried using the relocate function?

I'd start by adding a "File Path" column to the file browser in Traktor. That'll show you where the files are physically located.

When you say "read tracks from VLC" what do you mean? Is that a folder with tracks you play in VLC or have you used something like MusConv to copy the playlists?

I do not have Traktor, but apparently then if about single playlist then the Check for consistency ought to have an option to remove duplicates. Else I stumbled upon this app : TraktorLibrarian

I can not vouch for the app but if you want to be sure that the app doesn't screw up anything then I can only advice to back up your data/drive prior to trying the tool !

(It's probably a question for the Traktor guys so let's hope someone that really knows Traktor spots the question)

Did you add your iTunes collection to traktor? And also dragged 'n droped files from your file system into traktor? Could that be the cause?

Yes! This must be the issue? I'm mainly trying to figure out a solution to remove the duplicates efficiently without having any corrupted files during the process?

I never used iTunes / MusicApp. But I assume mixing both iTiunes and also adding files by hand is not ideal.
