I can confirm that a full size Sandisk Extreme Pro solves this issue.

l also encountered issues with 2 different microSDXC cards, where I was unable to store downloads to them or save any project files to them despite formatting them both a few times inside the Maschine+. The cards in question were the Sandisk Ultra 512GB MicroSDXC card (‎SDSQUAC-512G-GN6MA) and the Samsung Pro Ultimate 512GB (MB-MY512SA/WW), both bought from Amazon.

I tried swapping the SD card adapters amongst all the options including the card and adapter included with the Maschine+, the only combos that worked were with the 64GB card included with the Maschine+. This seemed to indicate that the issue laid with the cards I was trying. Writing to the included card worked fine, so I proceeded to install my stuff on the 64GB card till I ran out of room.

Not wanting to give up I inserted the Sandisk 512GB card into my laptop's card reader and connected the Maschine+ to the USB port, set it to Storage mode, and proceeded to copy everything off the 64GB card to the 512GB one. After that was done, I turned off the Maschine+, ejected the 64Gb card and inserted the 512GB Sandisk into the Maschine+ (using the adapter supplied with the Sandisk card by the way). Lo and behold, the Maschine+ picked it up and was able to run all the stuff installed on it perfectly, and I was even able to save project files and install the library components and expansions I was missing before.

So was it that the SD cards needed to have a proper directory before the would work? In any case the SD card reader is not broken, else it would still not work. I have the 2nd Samsung SD card and will try to see if that also works now from a fresh format, or if I have to copy some files to it first before it will work.

I'm just sharing my findings here in the hope that they may help someone who experiences the same behavior I did.

Update: I put the Samsung Pro Ultimate 512GB card in, and was able to write and install to it without any issues whatsoever. 🤷‍♂️
