How do i fix crashes?
problem:
My Kontrol S4 mk3 crashes about every 15 minutes.
Either the music abruptly slows down enormously, or i hear an abrupt buzzing sound, and everything seems to be frozen until I reboot the controller after which the issue returns after another 15 minutes max.
This mostly happens while in a transition between two tracks or while browsing my library when music is playing.
The controller is plugged in on my USB3.0 port (no idea if this matters); and I made it so my energy-settings for my usb-ports can't form an issue without any result.
I've also tried closing everything in the background to eliminate the chance of my streaming software interfering, but the problem also occurs when I'm not streaming.
I have never had this problem. This started about a month ago.
actions already done:
My library has been checked for consistensy and full analyzed. I've also deleted every corrupted file from my pc.
I've tried Traktor pro versions 3.8 and 3.10.1 beta and both have the same issue.
TKS4MK3Updater tells me I've got the latest firmware updates
PC-specifications:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics 2.90 GHz
RAM: 16,0 GB (15,4 GB available)
Type system: 64-bits besturingssysteem, x64-processor
Windows 11 Home
And I have +96 GB free space.

You said you checked firmware for the device. Did you try also to reinstall the drivers?

I haven't tried that yet. I'm trying as soon as I get home and keep you posted 👌🏻

I've been testing for over an hour. After reinstalling everything, traktor dj pro, drivers and firmware, it seems like it's working. Tommorow I'm going to do a longer test. If something pops up, I'll post.

Does it crash on the same track each time? What type of audio files do you play?

It happens randomly on tracks that seem to work perfectly if i play them at another moment. I've also tried doing the same transitions that caused the crash after rebooting the controller, and than there's never a problem, so it's not gonna be because of a problem in my music files.
I've got everything in mp3 and WAV, and the tracks that i couldn't convert to one of those two were all deleted, just to be sure. It also happens on both formats, as well while mixing mp3 with mp3 as wav with wav, as wav with mp3, or the other way around.

I do not know if your problem is related to version of Traktor Pro , but I thought that I'd mention that it is debated which version is the most stable , especially because (I think that the newer versions have built in some linking to something external that may cause delays , can not remember what it was) .

Thanks man, I'm going to test if downgrading to 3.4.2 fixes my issue in the meantime.
It's sad that a known brand like NI can't make their most expensive dj-controller work properly :(

Thanks ! , and sorry that the downloads appear to not be working anymore, maybe @Jeremy_NI could take a look to see if N.I. wish to update the links or provide new ones ? , if not then you can contact support ( http://bit.ly/NIsupport_install ) and ask them to get a link to a specific older version of Traktor Pro for testing !

NI should make a directory of all installers available to users. This way everyone can pick the version they like best.

Agree , at least for the previous versions to be available to registered users/owners of the app in question ! I think that problem may also be that N.I. thinks that older versions are going to produce other problems by not being up to date , and also I think that N.I. may consider it an undesirable course of action as they most likely want as many users as possible using newest version and to adapt as soon as possible N.I. not wanting to sped resources on anything they consider deprecated !

What resources? It's a file directory. Should take about 5 minutes to collect and upload, another 30 minutes to integrate into existing download page for Traktor gear drivers and manuals. ^^
If they want more users to flock to the latest iteration, they should focus just on 'more users' in general by making the use of Traktor in any iteration as easy as possible as well as kicking off the much discussed 'fix the bugs!' initiative.
