Ask me anything: X1 MK3

Great looking hardware! Will there be a similar, hardware DMX companion (with X1's form-factor) for controlling lighting from within Traktor? It seems like a natural evolution from the X1 lighting.

Same happened with S4 MK3 new button placement. It is not a real issue if you are not swapping between MK2 and MK3 very oftenly. Just stick to one model and you will build a muscle memory easily.
at the end of the day, remap the button or two Traktor is awesome for that.

I want to get my hands in this, great for audio production.

Holy smokes. If anyone wants to learn how to exaggerate this is a good lesson.

Mine just arrived today, setup was easy, have had to make a few adjustments to my usual controls, but nothing huge. I have two things id like to know though:
-Is it possible to set the Shift+Loop encoder so it shifts the loop by one beat at a time rather than jump the full loop amount?
-In mixer mode is it possible map controls for the filter (i.e. to shift + volume encoder)?

You have all the possibilities in preferences / Traktor X1 MK3 Main. The NI team has announced that these options will be expanded in the future, but for now, those are the options you have.

By popular request, I think it is necessary to prioritize implementing options for the "sync" button, and overmapping.

So no custom mapping at the moment?

Yes, there is "midi mode", but the screens do not work. That's why we want "normal mode" to be able to be modified with "control manager", to be able to customize the functions and have the screens.

That's strange. I took the screenshot where it was stated that screen in midi mode can be switched to show deck info... If it doesn't work then please add more modifiers already so it is comfortable to work with native mappings.

I'm basing this on what @MichaelK_NI said here.

As I like to perform without a laptop screen in front of me, im now stuck with 2x D2. The displays give me tons of info and most important, the option to browse my libraries, playlists, drives and sort tracks on everything. Now with 3.10 out and still not being able to enjoy that due to to the AMD screen glitch issues: Do the screens on the X1 MkIII also provide me enough info to replace my D2s with this in mind?

The X1 is mainly a controller for FX 1 till FX4, right. Is there a reason why you implemented notched potentiometers that behave like Maggie Thatcher (indeed "not for turning")? This renders soft filtersweeps, flanger sweeps and any other soft sweeps from 0 to 127 virtually impossible. So if there is a why, other then the (self admitted) courtisy funtion as deck A B mixer, that is in fact also hampered by this (in my haptics feel) faithfull decision, I'd like to know. I love Traktor but without a decent controller (that does what I want it to do) it's on its way out. And believe me I hate doing this. This is the last time I gave you the benefit of the doubt.
Now, I also own a SP404 mk2, check out how Roland does potentiometers for controlling effets, buttery smooth.
The device is back in the box and tommorow it's back in the mail.
Sorry, to have to report this. Why don't you involve actual users into your design process.
