Interesting that Arturia also issued the update for the CS-80 today - maybe that means the keyboards were supposed to arrive earlier...

Nice - that is one of the iconic poly aftertouch synths

The files will work so you can load NKS presets.
Images, no idea but if they all need updates that will be a long time coming (if ever) since i've only just come to the end of updating libraries already to VST3, going back and spending weeks/months updating images isn't thrilling me at all.
As usual there is close to no info that will be available to us plebs on the new NKS format so it will require a lot of reverse engineering and probably a new set of tools I will have to develop and likely I will be forced to buy a new keyboard even tho I really do not want one, I personally do not see any benefit or improvements for my use, honestly I am really not sure I even want to at the moment, it's really started to become more hassle than worth lately and i'm doing everything in my power at the moment to not simply pull the pin on further NKS support on my end.

We know so little at this point..
At this initial stage, pretty exciting to imagine how things might evolve.

Some of us know a lot more than others, just cannot disclose for legal reasons

Then why did you just state:

Because info on the actual NKS standard is not something NI ever disclose unless you are a developer. There are some things tho that some know that others don’t, but the actual useful info is “secret” tho anyone with time and a hex editor can figure it out, would just be nice to not have to spend days doing it…

Thank you very much for your explanation ;)

I'm amazed that to this day people like you and some others in this thread don't get offered the official NKS documentation that they send to plugin development companies... If anything you guys help people stick with NI sw/hw by proving what they or some 3rd parties don't. It could even be a stripped-down version in case there's any sensitive info there that could be used maliciously, which I doubt it would anyway... People will figure it out regardless, why hide it in a transparent box? I don't get it
Even smaller indie devs could use it.

All looks and sounds cool. It would be nice to know however, if the mk2 users will be getting a firmware/software update to control Kontakt too. We have been waiting to see multis in Komplete Kontrol for a good while. It is highly possible that development for the current firmware has now ceased, but I guess we will know soon enough.

no way that Kontakt will be "working" alone with MKI & MHII keys

It's an entirely different tech stack for MK3. I'm disappointed too, but sometimes, you have to bite the bullet to move the Standard forward. @EvilDragon Has posted some good insights on the VI Control forum, which is worth reading.

Interesting to know. I will definitely explore that. I am still using Kontakt 6 myself so won't be migrating for now. I am still intrigued to see how they evolve the platform though.
Maybe some amazing tech geek will develop a new script, as I am sure it is a feasible task. Just dreaming of course.

Yeah that would be nice but my main aim has always been to push NI into providing the tools to the masses and opening it all up. NKS 2 looks a bit too complicated for that now and at the moment I think will be firmly in the hands of developers (being based in Kontakt scripting) but I think NKS 1 will have to remain because that is basically built on the foundation of live mapping of plugins within the KK environment so they can't remove it without making it impossible for someone to just map a few plugin knobs to KK knobs and then save that as a NKS patch. So I think we have a stronger case now for NI to make the tools to create NKS 1 more open, while they can keep the NKS 2 stuff more with NKS partners (we can however hack the graphics to make NKS 1 look better in the new screens - I've already worked that part out).

@JesterMgee You've frequently said you'll probably be closing up shop soon. I'm a happy customer of yours, and while I'd hate to see you shut down, I also think you need to do what's best for you and your life. However, I wonder what you're going to do with the presets you've already made? It'd be ashame to see all that work just disappear down the memory hole. For blind people at least, your work is a resource that provides access to instruments we otherwise wouldn't be able to use. Will you at least keep the site up, or donate the presets to the NKS User library?
