Ask me anything: X1 MK3

Yes, as mentioned in this thread. They're working on it.

Unfortunately i dont understand what exactly you mean with custom modes. There will be a MIDI mode which you could used to add alternative mappings and the displays can be switched from showing track information plus remaining or elapsed time as well as having a big loop size display on constantly.

As the displays on the X1 are too smal for browsing, this is the only main think you will need to look at your laptop aside of sometimes peaking at the waveform to see when a drop is coming ;) But let's see what magic the community might cook up again.

Of course. That is the plan. We are releasing the X1 with some essential features and ideas in that area that we had and prioritized. Once the unit is out, the plan is to listen to our community on which improvements would make the X1 MK3 an even better unit.

On startup you can assign the unit to the various deck combinations like AB, CD, AC, BD but you could for example also make use of the MIDI layer to map it to your 3rd and 4th deck for very quick switching. If you want instant access to all 4 decks at all times, yes you would need two like in this setup.
The manual will be made available on release day.

Check out launchpad Mini, X, Pro etc. They have custom modes which are similar to Controller Editor templates.

Wow thats a tricky one. Let me try to answer as well as i can.
If you dont have access to the actual mixer and need to 4 decks internally, i would recommend that you get some kind of 4 channel fader MIDI controller. This can be anything like a Novation Launch Control, a Faderfox or Allen and Heath K2 and map this to the mixer controls like volume and eqs.
For the audio interface you can use anything that has 2 stereo outputs (or more). So a Komplete Audio 6 or something similar to be able to send the master output as well as have a free channel for your headphones. If you would use the Xone K2 as the mixer you would actually already have the audio interface build in there.
The LED brightness is currently not adjustable. We lowered the dim state to a lever where it is well readable but also offers a big enough contrast to the ON state which is very important especially in daylight situations. You can customize the color of every single button. Unfortunately no dynamic hotcue coloring in the software yet ;)

We are aware that some muscle memory will need to be relearned in regards to CUE, PLAY and SYNC if you are coming from the MK2. If you are coming from the MK1 tho it will be a very familiar layout. We decided to get back to the original MK1 layout as it is more in line with our other DJ controllers as well as the overall standards of other controllers on the market of how CUE and PLAY are positioned towards each other (CUE on top of PLAY).
This way you also have the only two ON/OFF toggle buttons at the bottom being separated by shape from all the trigger buttons on top.
We learned on X1 MK1 back in the day that even a standard USB B port was causing issues and accidential disconnects with DJs. For this reason we choose a high retention connector for this. Unfortunately USB C is not yet stable enough for a product that is being moved around in booths a lot from our perspective.

Pitch Bending will be done with two buttons which should be way more precise than using the touchstrip. It is the same way it worked on X1 MK1.

Yes that is the plan. We want to bring more customization options based on the feedback from the community.

Thanks, there are already some ideas in this thread.

Hello , can I use X1 MK2 with the new MK3?

Love the look of this!
A few first thoughts I’ve been having…
In mixer mode is there a way of choosing the channels in the headphones output providing you are using an external soundcard?
From the video it looks like the mk3 fits in the hardcase for the old x1, z1 and F1, is that the case?
Are there any plans to bring out a dedicated sound card for it like the old Audio 2?
Ive heard that switching between mixer mode and effects mode isn’t very practical as the knobs are fixed values. Is this the case and is there a plan to address this?
is there any mapping to use any of the controls for crossfader functionality in mixer mode?

Hi!
x1mk3 looks really nice, but I want to know - is there TraktorDJ2 compatibility? Because ditching the laptop for an ipad based rig that is smaller than a carry on item appeals to me.

On Traktor Pro 3.10 Update You should make the problem with screen(S5/D2/S8) flickering in 3.9!
I am waiting my new X1 Mk3 next to my S5
I like it the new layout i am owner of 2 X1 Mk1 and 1 X1 Mk2...The Mk1 Was The Best Until Now I Think!
