Creating Dinosaur Roar
Hi folks new on here but looking if any has used NI to create dinosaur (TREX type) of huge thunderous roar.
I have managed quite well with more mellow background sounds but struggling with this one.
Any help, tips or shares most welcome.
cheers

Ha, nope but have gone to the zoo, recorded a lion at 192k then pitch it down a bit me also added a pitched down screech from a cockatoo.
Not the kind of thing I’d dig in komplete for, id usually head out with my recording rig and a list of potential ideas or utilize some sample packs.

Cal Scott's Alien ens in U/L contains some weird sounds you'll like

Also, you could roar yourself and use several effects on that. Maybe Guitar Rig and a heavy metal preset might do the job. And band EQ with automation could shape it nicely. And harmoniser, if you have one, could add low frequences, if needed.

Definitely a good advice. I remember when I recorded random vocals for the first time and turned them into nice samples pretty much effortlessly using the right effects. I would add pitching to this list.

By harmonizer, I meant changing pitch. And one may add different delays to each pitchshifted signal and panning.
I've just bought secondhand Eventide Eclipse. I might try to patch TrexRoar.

That Eclipse unit seems to be a beast.

Just to update, I gained Eclipse´s younger brother Eventide H8000FW. My little son loves it!!! Shouting in mic and getting strange sounds... I haven´t went through all the presets, but I am pretty sure T-REX might be there waiting to dial in. Or one could patch it, in the worst case... :-DDDD

Krotos Simple Monsters or Dehumaniser 2 will sort out any existing or non-existing animal roars.

This somehow reminds me of that video, which is about creating gruesome gore sounds for a Mortal Kombat game by using fruits and vegetables. (TW: gory in-game footage is shown in that video). Reaktor and a Reaktor-based sample layering sound creation tool called S-Layer (as seen around 6:00) are used.
It's pretty interesting and shows that sound design is all about trying out.
