Go ahead and do it, just add the new path in Traktor Preferences --> File Management.

that's the easy part Sunborn, thanks.
i need to retain all playlists, song tags, when i transfer my music. so when i open traktor the path to the music files is correct, when i hit play.
is there a phone number at NI, so someone can walk me through it? or whatsapp number?

You don't need to do any of those. All you have to do is to copy your entire Traktor User Folder!
Usually this is at: C:\Users\your_user_name\Documents\Native Instruments\Traktor [version_number]
Just copy the entire folder in your new laptop. Everything is there, tags, settings, playlists, track analysis etc.
Then you open Traktor and you do a simple Relocation (and give your new music library path), all the rest are the same.
However, if you do what i do, since years, you don't even need to do relocation. This is how:
I have my music library at D:\Music. Always. So, every time i update, or i change drives, or move on a new computer, i always use that specific path. And Traktor finds everything immediately. No mistakes, no wrong paths, no ask for relocate missing files. End of story. 😉

evening Sunborn,
After setting the new file paths in Traktor preferences - file management and mix recorder on the external harddrive, with import collection on startup disabled.
C: drive music file path had to be deleted and H: file path added instead.
The music files appeared in Track Collection, but some songs were missing.
So under Track Collection, right click, Check Consistency was started at approximately 1pm.
At 6.46pm it was still going.
None of my Playlists were imported/visible in Track collection – Playlists.
Power cut at 6.58pm, Check Consistency discontinued.
How do I get my Playlists showing in Traktor? thanks

hello,
The music files appeared in Track Collection, but some songs were missing.
for those files you do "relocate", however it is very possible that they has been deleted long ago, and what you see as missing, is just their info
Check Consistency
It may take long yes. My library is about 600 Giga and check consistency might take an hour or so, but never as long as yours, however my drive is an SSL. If you have a common disc, well... good luck. Either way, you have to do it again until it finish.
None of my Playlists were imported
All of the important info including Playlists are on collection.nml file. Check if it is there. And it should be big if you have a lot of music. Mine is 16.8 Mb.
Please make sure that Traktor is looking in the correct root folder! You may have 2-3 or more different Traktor user folders, from previous versions. The see if you are on the correct path, check your Root Dir:
In my example, i have moved the entire Traktor user folder to another drive. I never use the default path since years. After install, when Traktor asks "do you want to import collection", i always choose NO. Then i change the default Dir to my own and restart Traktor. Traktor opens and finds everything, immediately. Then, i always delete the default user folder from my Documents.

afternoon Sunborn,
trying check consistency again, i think its now a heat issue with my computer. the computer shut off, as it takes so long to complete.
i still don't see any playlists i created, but the correct number of songs are in track collection now.
how can i bring in my playlists, under Playlists?

as i told you, playlists are included on collection.nml file... if are not there when you load this collection, then i have no idea... they should be there

morning Sunborn,
imported my playlists inside the Playlists Tree, took around 40min to complete. all seems to be there, so far.
but Traktor is looking in C: drive, not H: drive, where i have the playlists and the music folder set up.
need to find a way around check consistency, to relocate music to look in H: only.
does Relocate option exist by itself, to do is instead?

I already told you that, few comments above.
Add the new path on File Management ---> Music folders
Remove the old paths if still there.
