Yes, new approach is certified thing with ISO defined form format, interface, sockets and so on. So that many manufacturers may produce it and pieces will be interchangable.
One could snap it in any device designed all over the world. Something like RAM module, HDD, SDD. No licences and so on...
It may be something based on iPad, but open and with decent OS. Or even better, with OS of choice.

How is that rude by pointing out what happens? I’m also a user of both sides of the product fence so far from a “PC Fan”. The moment someone mentions something like this it gets someone’s back hairs standing like they are personally offended because a point about a product they use was said.
If it helps calm your nerves, the “PC Fans” are focused on comparing the size of their processors more than accepting even a modest processor can handle a job just fine.

So curious... is it a good time to buy Maschine Plus? Theyre pretty cheap used. Had one, loved it, don't know why I traded for MPC Live 2, to me it was the wrong instrument.
Should I buy a Maschine Plus? Should I wait?
I'm already waiting for the Push 3 base version.
Just bought S4 Mk3 from B-stock. Curious to see what comes around in Traktor. I never jelled with Serato, Rekorbox is aight, I use many tools to create playlists though.
Cheers

Yes, you keep repeating that you use both platforms, yet you selectively won’t miss any opportunity for a sarcastic comment about Mac platform and its users which you call “Mac Fans”. Another guy called us “iCult”, I guess that’s OK, too?
I mean, what happened to kindness and mutual respect? Is it really too much to ask for?
You are an intelligent and knowledgeable person, a figure of authority on this forum for many, surely you can formulate your negative opinions about Mac/iPad without being sarcastic/rude/condescending ?
Yes, the thread went off-topic, as it happens quite often and it should have been brought back on topic by MODERATORS.

Not everyone, who uses Mac/Apple is Mac Fan enchanted by iCult. And I am pretty sure, that those notes were not directed to you.... But there are few who seem to fall into this cathegory....
And I am not a fan of Win, or x86, or MS, or AMD. I just ballance biased view of Mac/iPad fans influenced by iCult. ;-)

Not everyone who uses PC/Win is tasteless old-fashioned drone enchanted by Micro$oft.
See, I can do that too :)
I know you meant well and tongue-in-cheek, but at the end of the day it’s still offensive.
I don’t call people names, I dispute their arguments if I disagree with them, instead.
Once people start calling other people names, it means that they’ve run out of arguments ;)

Well my comment was based on the fact that ipads are no more a solution than just a laptop and trying to shoehorn a square peg in a round hole isn't a solution for this case (IMO). If my opinion about how I feel an ipad is an innapropriate solution somehow causes you personally offence then my appologies I guess, however it was by no means directed at you personally so don't take it that way.

Well, there are many "tasteless old-fashioned drone enchanted by Micro$oft" for sure. As well as many "iPad/Mac lovers ruled by spell of Apple".
That is IMHO the description of reality and not calling the names.
But I know, what you have meant. We should avoid personal insults. But those "proclamations" were general, not personal...

I agree with your opinion, which might surprise you. I do not agree with your usage of “Mac Fans” to describe Mac users and with the phrase “train has gone to the moon”, as if we are some kind of crazy lunatics.
It’s not what you said, is how you said it. Same with the other guy - iCult.

in all of this there is another factor, people who are way too easily offended. And also people who need to feel that they are right at all times or have the last word. And I don’t agree that people who insult others are at a loss of words. At times it’s simply the right thing. There are people who argue their case JUST to be right, they don’t actually read and try to understand what the counterpart is trying to say, they don’t even care as long as they have the last word or somehow feel that they are right.

From JesterMgee quote: ...ipads are no more a solution than just a laptop...
IMO, what makes an iPad more of a solution than just a laptop is it's form-factor.
Easy to envision a control surface that integrates with an iPad being a folding cover... using the same Smart Connector as the current add-on Smart QWERTY keyboards/trackpads.
Such a combo would be highly-portable, in affect a "stand-alone" rig. Battery power all coming from iPad. Audio I/O at the back or side of control surface.
Real pads and knobs working together with the iPad angled just above... and the occasional pencil/finger input used on the iPad directly.
A laptop would not be as elegant of integration for high-portability.

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by tons of threads getting completely derailed into iPad / Arm VS x86 / Mac VS Windows?
I understand it's often somewhat related to the original topic and people tend to use that as an opportunity to bring up their desires in terms of platform in hopes that they feel heard, 'if only it was on an iPad' or whatever, even I might have some of those desires myself but it ends up on an endless argument going around in circles where everyone seems to be more focused on convincing each other rather than what the original topic was... It gets old fast and it's not like there's often news about things that are exciting to talk about here, if even those news get derailed then it goes from beeign a bit annoying to recking discussions... This could just be my POV tho.
If we go and heavily moderate this to avoid it from derailing threads it might come across as censorship of some kind and someone can always argue somehow that platform/OS/whatever is related to the topic even when it really wasn't.
Any suggestions or solutions?
Perhaps a couple of main threads specifically about "iPads as the brains of a standalone in the future" or similar topics so we can redirect those conversations there? I'm saying this mostly for you guys, the community because personally, I tend to just exit the conversation when the derail happens, I do like to discuss these topics but only when it's really the actual topic.

Yes, it is IMHO good idea to make separate thread about iPad standalone plug....

The funny thing is even if that type of thread existed it would die quicker than the original topic in this one bcs only a few would go in there to actually “convince” each other. They feed of our reactions and responses. It’s giving them fuel to continue.

I think most people mean well and just want to talk. However, the point of an dedicated thread would be to redirect people there once they get into the 'but if it used and iPad instead it would be much better', immediately stopping the derail, potentially moving posts also, without warning, if the discussion continues on the redirect or not is not very relevant. - Note I am focussing on iPad's as an example, it could be anything else like, Linux, or similar things.
