Not everyone, who uses Mac/Apple is Mac Fan enchanted by iCult. And I am pretty sure, that those notes were not directed to you.... But there are few who seem to fall into this cathegory....

And I am not a fan of Win, or x86, or MS, or AMD. I just ballance biased view of Mac/iPad fans influenced by iCult. ;-)

Not everyone who uses PC/Win is tasteless old-fashioned drone enchanted by Micro$oft.

See, I can do that too :)

I know you meant well and tongue-in-cheek, but at the end of the day it’s still offensive.

I don’t call people names, I dispute their arguments if I disagree with them, instead.

Once people start calling other people names, it means that they’ve run out of arguments ;)

Well my comment was based on the fact that ipads are no more a solution than just a laptop and trying to shoehorn a square peg in a round hole isn't a solution for this case (IMO). If my opinion about how I feel an ipad is an innapropriate solution somehow causes you personally offence then my appologies I guess, however it was by no means directed at you personally so don't take it that way.

Well, there are many "tasteless old-fashioned drone enchanted by Micro$oft" for sure. As well as many "iPad/Mac lovers ruled by spell of Apple".

That is IMHO the description of reality and not calling the names.

But I know, what you have meant. We should avoid personal insults. But those "proclamations" were general, not personal...

I agree with your opinion, which might surprise you. I do not agree with your usage of “Mac Fans” to describe Mac users and with the phrase “train has gone to the moon”, as if we are some kind of crazy lunatics.

It’s not what you said, is how you said it. Same with the other guy - iCult.

From JesterMgee quote: ...ipads are no more a solution than just a laptop...

IMO, what makes an iPad more of a solution than just a laptop is it's form-factor.

Easy to envision a control surface that integrates with an iPad being a folding cover... using the same Smart Connector as the current add-on Smart QWERTY keyboards/trackpads.

Such a combo would be highly-portable, in affect a "stand-alone" rig. Battery power all coming from iPad. Audio I/O at the back or side of control surface.

Real pads and knobs working together with the iPad angled just above... and the occasional pencil/finger input used on the iPad directly.

A laptop would not be as elegant of integration for high-portability.

Yes, it is IMHO good idea to make separate thread about iPad standalone plug....

The funny thing is even if that type of thread existed it would die quicker than the original topic in this one bcs only a few would go in there to actually “convince” each other. They feed of our reactions and responses. It’s giving them fuel to continue.

I think most people mean well and just want to talk. However, the point of an dedicated thread would be to redirect people there once they get into the 'but if it used and iPad instead it would be much better', immediately stopping the derail, potentially moving posts also, without warning, if the discussion continues on the redirect or not is not very relevant. - Note I am focussing on iPad's as an example, it could be anything else like, Linux, or similar things.

That is the reason, why I prefer place it in separate thread. ;-)

    I agree 100%

SOME moderation would be nice, though. Both to gently nudge people to stop posting repeatedly off-topic and to also gently nudge other people to be respectful towards others.

    @D-One asked:

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by tons of threads getting completely derailed into iPad / Arm VS x86 / Mac VS Windows?

    Absolutely not.

In my opinion posting 1 or 2 comments about something in some way related is part of the discussion. The problem is when a couple of users start confuting each others on the same ground for pages.

The fact is that if the same people derailing a topic and continuously repeating the same answer over…and over…and over again then say that a dedicated thread is a good idea, we won’t go far…
