Do you happen to know if that is also true for the clock input of the "read" module which is displayed as float? My guess is, since the value of the clock signal isn't used, it is free. But I'm not sure.

Pretty sure in a context where the value isn't used, then the type of the value (float, int, double) is totally irrelevant. So you shouldn't get charged for that :)

However, that isn't the case here - those float latches feed into integer Boolean operations, so the conversions will happen!
