Reaktor - Ring Modulation with Blocks?

Hi,

I haven't found anything regarding ring modulation with Reaktor Blocks so far with simple google search or in the documentation except for Bento Box CVP but I don't know how to accomplish a simple ring modulation. Maybe it is obvious?

You can just use the CVP like you said.

Do you know how to use the A/B mosulation system?

ring mod is a simple multiply op between two signals, try to use a multiply module and connect whatever it is you want to ring-modulate at the 1st input, and a modulation source to the 2nd input port of the multiply module.

Use the Euro Reakt one, it’s analog modeled. It’s a bit fancier and has a nice sound.

Triple is in the osc folder and Ring mod in fx.

The first one is an oscillator that uses internal ring modulation to create new waveforms.

With the effect you can process two input signals, so this is the one we'll want to use.

just want to chip in and say a good ring modulator should probably be oversampled, especially if you're ring modulating wideband signals. i think.. as long as there's no nonlinear distortion (so, simple multiplication) that you should only need 2x. but i could be mistaken

Sorry to bring down the mood, but that EuroReakt analog 'model' is just plain wrong!

It's easy to demonstrate without going into implementation details.

Just use a sine into the carrier (lower input) and a saw with a higher frequency (like 5 times higher or whatever) into the modulator input (upper input).

What should happen is that when the carrier is positive, the saw should look like a ramp down (assuming its a ramp down saw), but when the carrier is negative, the saw should be a ramp up - its shape should be inverted. This is obvious when you think that a ring mod is the equivalent of a four quadrant multiplication. so when the carrier is negative, it should change the sign if the modulator, inverting it.

When you put the Euroreakt ringmod into 'digital' mode, this is exactly what happens, but when you turn the knob towards 'analog' mode, those inverted saw peaks flip back to non inverted... oops!

@colB did you do any frequency domain analysis on that diode model Brett posted ? something definitely was not right in those pictures you uploaded but it's hard to tell exactly what it could be from time series alone

the other "diode ring" model you posted seems to be pretty good (it's the one I've used in my own work) but it also seems to have its own quirks too
