S4MK3 Left deck stopped working?
Hallo,

Hi @StePhil28, please note that this community is English only - therefore I have translated your inquiry. Please do so in the future as well.
"Hello,
I was playing music each of two weekends in February, something happened to me that never happened to me otherwise and I am not used to NI. During the evening, when I dragged any track into the deck and wanted to prelisten, I pressed the "Play" button and see that the track itself did not start. o.O
In this case I was lucky that someone else was there and could quickly take over a track, so I could restart my software. After that everything worked again! Something like this must not happen in any case, can someone help here what the reason is? This has already happened to me on two evenings, but also only once on the two evenings, in the course of time then strangely no more. In a discotheque, however, that would be modestly nice to first restart his software.
That has disappointed me badly!"
To begin with, I am sorry to hear that and feel the disappointment!
I'd like to know the following:
- Which Traktor version have you experienced the issue with (e.g. 3.7.1)?
- Which operating system are you using?
- Which external hardware are you using?
- Have you received any kind of error message in Traktor?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
The problem occurred before the new software, I did an update and it also occurred with the new one. I am using the S4 MK3 and the latest version of MacBook Pro. that's why i'm surprised! I've never had that before! My controller is not directly on the PC, but a USB distributor with an external hard drive. The distributor is then connected via USB C to the MacBook with both devices.

Aye, thanks for specifying. Connecting your audio interface to a USB hub is something which is definitely not recommended, but I mention this only on a side note here since the incidents you describe don't seem to indicate a problem with your audio interface - if I understand you correctly the other deck kept playing when one deck wouldn't start playing, right?

Did you get any errors / warnings at all?
Neither play or cue button did work?
Could you use the jog wheel to scrub the track?

No, unfortunately I didn't get a warning. It just happened! Already the second time!
Maybe it's really my USB hub, I should connect the controller directly to the PC. But I don't know if that's the reason.
I remember not being able to use anything. The track deck was like dead. That's why I restarted Traktor, lucky I had a colleague with me!

As I said, questioning the use of a hub is a rather general (but certainly legitimate) consideration - if it really were the culprit here, the other deck would have stopped working also.
It's now necessary to differentiate between a hardware flaw (defective Play button) or some misconfiguration in Traktor's Controller Manager. So let's check the latter:
Please fire up Traktor and your controller, open the Traktor Preferences / Controller Manager, expand the Device menu and post a screenshot here. It should look like this example:

Loaded mappings for other devices mostly do not disturb the operation, only if the same MIDI ports (or All Ports) are assigned. Your Controller Manager looks fine now, so there is no problem to be expected from this domain.
My assumption is a defect of the respective Play button.

Really? That would be bad because the controller is not even 1 year old! Before I think it's defective, I'll try it out with the USB hub, maybe with extra power (active). The whole thing only happened once in the evening, doesn't it happen more often when there is a defect? And after a restart everything worked again.
