It's the soundbar. They have a soundprocessor in them which adds delay.

Ok thanks a lot.

Yes, Soundbars, Bluetooth, and some home systems have delay from processing usually for different modes and spacial room settings. Sometimes there are adjustments on the soundbar or by turning off enhancements.
Sometimes the phone app you can download also can adjust delay. Or Game mode.
Our Bose system has a delay but it isn't too bad, but it is also hooked up with optical and the TV is also newer.
About 10 years ago I hooked my s4mk1 up to our TV audio system and the delay was horrible. I was also using a 20 foot cable.

Ok i'll try to minimize it.
Thank you

My understanding is cable length will not cause any measurable delay, at least not until several hundred kilometers come into play.

Lol. Yeah you are correct. It does matter somewhat for interference and sound quality.

Yes. Thanks for adding that. Cable length and conductor types affect impedance, and that will impact sound quality. That's one reason it is best to try and keep cable characteristics symmetrical in stereo environments. I should have been more clear about that. I don't want people to think cable lengths don't matter. I was just wanting to point out that length will not cause a delay.
Back to the OP, I'm curious to know what is causing the delay.

Probably the soundbar. There have been several posts of people trying to use soundbars with Traktor over the years. All stating they have delay issues.
My guess is the lag in the soundbar was mistaken as the headphones. Since most of the volume is heard over the speakers. Every time the cue was active in the headphones it was perceived as a headphone issue.

Ok. That makes sense to me. I couldn't understand why the headphones would have a delay. Thanks!!

Headphones do not have delay, they are ahead of soundbar.
