Whats your favorite LP filter with a good balance between cpu/sound quality?
I'm building myself my dream synth and im almost done... but would love to give it some filtering flavors.
i've currently included the skf and svf filter modules which are my favorite from the blocks primes collection. however they seem to be a bit on the heavy side.
Can you guys recommend me your favorite filters with a good balance between cpu and sound quality?
Thank you in advance.

Please test the Block PAUL filter also.
Complete name is FLT-Modern Paul Filter in the folders Blocks Primes ›› Modern

I love the svf filter but I don't agree its on the heavy side .
The core svf just sounds amazing , altought the ento svf uses the same core filter I've noticed that it's saturation characteristics are less pronounced when at full reso, which is an easy fix n the core module .
The core svf has this resonance bump at 2* mutliple of the cutoff frequency .
Here' are some screenshots .
First is the blocks bento filter , second is the amazing gforce sem , and third is a sem I am building on using the core svf filter , N.I. did a fantastic job with all the core filters and the filter FM is amazing (the blovks filter fm is als a bit tame )

Search Poddig on the user library for some more good options.

yes... this one is sweet.
I must admit at first i dismissed it... but after some testing i think its great.
thank you!

I mean... its only heavy when i run it in my 3 unison voice synth.
But even then... its not that bad.
How can i "fix" the reso sat?
Im still learning my way around reaktor.
I had stopped using it about 2 years ago and just recently picked it up.
also.. what are the "core filters"? it may be a silly question...
i hear them being mentioned here and there... but dont know how to use them.
also the gforce filter you refer to is this one right?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Yes, Brett - I've forgotten Benjamins developements

if you're worried about CPU you might do well to just use one of the primary filters, they were considered plenty good enough for years and years of great reaktor synths. and are dirt cheap CPU wise
however I would recommend sticking with what you're using now. I think skf and svf are both 2 pole which is about as good as you'll get for CPU efficient state of the art core filters
it is possible some user library ZDF or TPT filters might be more optimized if they forego use of the ZDF framework

I mean... im realize i probably was exaggerating. They are not that cpu demanding.
I just dont want super crazy cpu expensive racks.
The svf is great. so is the skf and the paule.
I dont like the monark one. not because it doesnt sound good. But because im just bored with the moog sound.

if you're curious about different sounding filters and are bored with 4p moog sound I might recommend checking out 4p ladder with OTA style feedback saturation (marked NLB in the factory filters)
this gives something closer to the Curtis style filters, which is a sound that I find preferable.

Thank you... this is helpful. i appreciate it.
btw. can you explain to me what everyone means with the "core filters"?
like i know what a core cell is. but cant find the so called core filters anywhere.
Im interested in creating a poly synth and would love to use them.

core filters are, i believe, the one's you're already making use of. they are distinguished from the stock options available at the primary building level

Thank you. i think these are still beyond my skills.

no way. all you gotta do is go into the structure and replace the filter with whatever filter you wanna replace it with
the only parameters on the core filter you really need to trouble with are the cutoff frequency and the resonance. everything else can just be left unplugged

Im going to be testing them!
Thank you.
my dream synth is coming closer to reality as days go by.

is it the monologue you're trying to recreate?
if so, yeah you'd do well to find a better filter. the filter on the monologue/minilogue are by far the weakest link of an otherwise pretty dope synth architecture
