Microphone via the Aux Channel but with extra gain? + Aux volume mapping
Hello
There are two methods to add a microphone on my S4 mk3.
Via live input deck, which takes the whole deck, or via Aux.
When I do it via aux, is there a way to add a bit of gain to it? Otherwise it's a bit quiet.
Also by default the volume is at 0% with every start. I have to switch layout, put to 100%, switch back. A bit annoying. Can I set default to 100%
Or can I map it to for example the crossfader?
Thank you for your time :)

Press and hold one of the SHIFT buttons and the corresponding EXT button on the Deck the microphone was plugged into (in this example, it's the MIC D input, so Deck D). This will enable the microphone pre-amp.
Adjust the GAIN knob next to the EXT button while speaking into the microphone until you reach the desired level. The level meters next to the channel selection will provide a visual indication of the signal level. When you have finished, you can close the
Have you tried this? So you will have more gain, but this won't help with the aux knob

Turning the gain on deck C will just change the gain for that deck, not for mic input C that is routed to aux.

This command, found at 'Add In.. --> Mixer --> Microphone Gain Adjust' will control the microphone gain (AUX). You can do it with the mouse if you enable the crossfader strip under 'Preferences --> Mixer --> Mixer Layout'.
I don't know how to add even more gain other than having it at 100%. Bind the command to a button to set it to value 1.000. I use space on my keyboad for all initializing commands, like for example 'show slider values: ON', which doesn't even have a button in the Traktor interface.

Have you really tried it with shift+ext and then turn gain next to the ext button?

And do you use the back input, if yes do you use a symetrical cable TRS? If not you can loose some gain. And what exact mic model do you use?

Yes, if the pre-amp would not be active It would not work at all.
And do you use the back input, if yes do you use a symetrical cable TRS?
Yes, back input,
No, I don't think it's symetrical. I use this one https://www.thomann.de/intl/the_sssnake_fxp1015.htm
With this mic t.bone MB 55

Thank you, I will take a look.

You need something like that, if i remember correctly you will have 6dB more, i can't find if the back input is symetrical, but trying a cable like that can not break anything - and i guess the mic input is symetrical

As excepted, symetrical cable did not help.
But instead of routing it through traktor I now route it directly into OBS and boost it there.

or you can push your mic input maybe with a triton audio fat head, cloud lifter, or a similar product:
we doing this for our rode procaster with our dynamic mics and it works really good.
