Maschine 3.7 is here. Check the new features!

Today, we are launching Maschine 3.7, a major free update for Maschine 3 alongside three new Expansions: Thirty, a 30th-anniversary collection that resamples and reimagines highlights from across our catalogue.
Paris Heat, a French house-inspired pack built for future-facing club music.
And Rage Circuit, a rage and hypertrap collection created with GRAMMY-winning producer Snipe Young.

Maschine is alive and evolving, and this update packs in a host of fresh features for creative sequencing, for you to explore new ideas more quickly.

Key Update Features:

RANDOM NOTE GENERATOR:
Let Maschine write the notes. Set the odds and start from an idea instead of an empty grid.
EUCLIDEAN SEQUENCER:
Dial in steps, fills, and rotation to create grooves you'd never draw by hand — Live mode updates them in real time while the loop runs.
NOTE EVENT PROBABILITY:
Give every note a chance value. Maschine re-rolls it on each loop, so the pattern keeps breathing, and any take can be locked in the moment it's right.

All features can be accessed from software and hardware (MK3, Mikro MK3, Studio and Maschine+).

Compatibility:

Maschine 3 is compatible with macOS 14, 15 and 26, and Windows 10 (21H2) or higher.

For Maschine+ owners:

Please note that Maschine 3.7 includes changes to project serialisation. This means that desktop projects created with Maschine 3.7 require Maschine+ to also run 3.7 to work.

The corresponding Maschine+ update is already underway and set for release soon.

In case you heavily rely on moving projects between desktop and Maschine+, please consider waiting until the Maschine+ update is out before updating your desktop software.

I hate doing this, I really do because I do appreciate that at least things are still moving but who on earth is making the decisions on what to implement?

Maschine still doesnt have proper DPI scaling, the sampler doesnt have realtime pitch or time stretch(merge Sampler/Audio functionality), theres no cut and paste modulation, there is NO automation whatsoever, theres no record to timeline, there was a start made on QOL midi editing functions(much appreciated) but it still needs lots of work including better zoom and piano roll,there is no ability to route midi between VST's, no ability to record pad mutes, it needs better DAW integration as a VST, the ability to turn off the constant dark mode that is the new UI and on and on.

This is all pretty basic stuff that needs to get done first and all this has been requested over and over and over again for years ad nauseum. Stuff like euclidean sequencer and random note generators( which we kind of have already tbh) are what get implemented once all the basics are all in place and frankly? Maschine is about a decade behind everyone else in this space and it needs TLC to be made competitive again.

Right now? Implementing this kind of stuff without addressing the basics is like garnishing a big mac with white gold cavier.

We want improvements that make it easier for US to make music, we dont want Maschine to write the music for us. Adhere to that philosophy and you cant go far wrong.

We appreciate any sign of life, we really do especially given the recent upheavals and I am sure there are limited resources to deploy right now which is why deploying them in the right areas is so important. We dont want the shiny 'good to have' accessories yet, just focus on getting the basic 'must haves' in place first.

Please, we all have a vested interest in Maschines success and just want it to be a contender and get back on track again which in turn will entice new users and revenue making it mutually beneficial for everyone.

I was refering to the numerous survey results and questionaires that have appeared over the years going back as far as the old forum. Feel free to go back and look at them, as I did before posting, to confirm that these are the most often requested improvements. Hence my comment:

I think you are not the main user of Maschine, most of the users use the hardware, that's the big advantage of Maschine, so most of these things like DPI scaling, copy/paste with mouse, are not what most of us do.

It is a really nice update for us that make use of Maschine as it is intended, get creative with an amazingly quick workflow, not to do complete productions without needing another DAW.

So for the use cases of getting creative, music ideas, quick worklow, drafs, live performance, this is an amazing addition.

Im glad you're happy, really. My point was to illustrate that NI has taken numerous surveys and questionaires going back years asking for improvements and suggestions and the same requests have come at the top of the list again and again. Those requests are never addressed and implementing stuff like this comes pretty far down the bottom of the list. You can go back and look to confirm this, hell you can on to the wayback machine and see the things I mentioned being asked for even on the old forum going back almost a decade.

Im genuinely happy that you and others like it but I want Maschine to make it easier to make music, I dont need Maschine writing the notes. The evidence would suggest that this is the majority view, thats all.

So great! I like the update!

As plugin to Logic Pro for me it's godlike to make sketches for future song. Just waiting for new Maschine hardware to use everything. By that time, will use soft with NI Control S Keyboard)

I believe it would more accurate to say they've not been addressed YET. You can't possibly know that they never will be.

That's you. That's not all of us. Maschine is not Suno.

IMO the generative stuff is akin to having a partner in the studio who can suggest ideas when yours dry up. If you don't like the idea, don't use it. You have a choice. Nobody's forcing you to download the update. Nobody's forcing you to use the generative tools.

I am just playing around with this and it seems like a very nice set of new features well implemented so that they work both in the software, but more importantly in the hardware.

I like the cadence of having a group of related features being implemented at the same time and then moving on to the next set of related features. And obviously being done as a free update makes the whole paying for version 3 more reasonable.

The new features do make messing about both more fun and productive. My only worry about having generated content is the whole, how creative does that make me, but I guess that creating something with generated content is better than creating nothing and ultimately I am making all the choices. As someone once said when they were asked why their first draft of a track was so bad, it gives me something to change. And sometimes that's the kick your creativity really needs.

To address @cal 's point. I don't know if I do want Maschine to be yet another DAW. I want the software to function as a way for me to use the controller as an instrument and a composition tool. In an ideal world Maschine would accomplish everything from the controller itself and the fact that the software was running would be almost immaterial - although I like the way I can pop up third party plugins' UI on the screen, that is really helpful.

So while I would quite like Maschine to figure out what it does want to be and have better editable midi and (please) automation, I still prefer to be able to make changes via the controller. Every time I don't have to pick up the mouse is a victory for the Maschine. Every time I HAVE to do something via the software rather than the controller is a defeat for the entire concept of the Maschine.

I have used Maschine to fully record material I've released and used it as a plugin within a DAW and, ultimately the latter gives me far more overall control however annoying the handshake process is.

Congrats on the release. And on giving Maschine new stuff and keeping it alive.

That said… frankly… nothing I’m really interested into.

I do agree that these new features are mainly focusing on making stuff for us instead of letting us make OUR things more conveniently. Or even allowing basic stuff to be done.

Surely additions that are of interest for people not focusing too much on laying down what is in their heads but instead doing things “casually”. Stumbling upon happy accidents to then say “You know what? This sounds cool”.

Techno rhythmic people will probably be happy. Melodic people not that much.

And this is coming from someone not really surprised not being interested in these new stuff. Sadly the people taking decisions at NI have taken a direction that is not the one I hoped for since years. But… well… yeah… that is nowadays world and what nowadays people want, so…

I’m just sad because I also agree that surveys did gave us the impression that things could get back on track… to then be deluded again. And that the things that are long time requests are constantly ignored.

But, as said, congrats anyway. And appreciate anyway that things are at least moving.

Surely for every unhappy user like me there is another user happy to have Maschine doing things in his place.
