Komplete 14 Collector‘s Edition -> Komplete 26 Ultimate = 599 Euros?

Hi all,

I have a license to the Komplete 14 Collector‘s Edition and am being quoted 599 Euros to upgrade to Komplete 26 Ultimate. Since the Collector‘s Edition includes Ultimate, I‘m wondering why I‘m not seeing the 399 Euros for an upgrade from Komplete 14 Ultimate? Am I missing something here?

Yes , from Collectors to Ultimate is neither Update nor Upgrade , it is a down-grade. NI do not sell downgrades. I suggested recently myself that NI looked into the matter but fact is that you can not buy a 'down-grade' You can start a new bundle stack though , e.g. build from Select to Ultimate. As is then I guess that it is cheaper for you to Update to K 26 Collectors for 499,00 € (from K14 CE).

There are no update paths to any lower tier of Komplete. Updates only work on the same tier. Standard xy → Standard 26, Ultimate xy → Ultimate 26, Collector's Edition xy → Collector's Edition 26. It doesn't matter that the higher tier of your previous version contains everything the lower tier contains. Prerequisite for an update is a license for that exact tier in a previous version.

You can get to a higher tier by using upgrade options if you make the move to Komplete 26 but not to a lower tier.

It seems that you have a license for Komplete 13 Ultimate (or lower) in your account. For that reason you are offered that option.

It is similar for me: I have 14 Standard and 15 Ultimate . If I want to buy 26 Standard I get offered an update at 199€ (as expected for 14 Standard).

As a comment to what maniacintosh81 wrote above then usually then the same product can not be used as base for another/more 'upgrades' (unless that you e.g. remove the existing upgrade) but on the other hand then you can be offered more Updates or Upgrades if you have more unused Update or Upgrade paths from product that you own.

Very strange - yes - because there is no concept of a downgrade (as was previously noted several times in this thread).

You cannot move ULT to Standard. Or CE to ULT.

Not possible in any way - unless you want to purchase another separate license.

Thanks for explaining this. I get it now but also sounds like German burocracy. I can upgrade to CE for 499 but Ultimate with less packaged software costs me 599.

I don't need all the CE stuff so I'll stick with Standard for 149. I was ready to pay 299 or maybe even 399 for Ultimate though but not 499 in general. Oh well.

I know that this usually shouldn't work as I used my 14 Standard for an 15 Ultimate upgrade. Have a spare Select license as I got one withe Maschine hardware and another with my S49 Mk2. But there is only one license in Standard tier I ever had. But I won't pay 199€ just to try if this really works as my plan is to either get to 26 Ultimate or even Collector's Edition if there are good offers in a forthcoming sale. And if this isn't this Summer of Sound yet: I can wait. :-)

I did have a 15 Standard and 14 Collector's Edition license. The upgrade to 26 Standard cost me 149 Euros.

I would have paid at least double the amount to get to Ultimate though.

Actually then it looks as if the Upgrade price from K26 Standard to K26 Ultimate is 699,00 €. So the server must still be offering an Update from something else.

Anyway , then what I meant is that you can always upgrade later - even on a sale…. No matter if what the system offers you is an Upgrade from Standard or an unused Update path from another 'Ultimate . But frankly then this requires @Jeremy_NI to explain why you are offered an Update from Ultimate…

Not to get expressions confused then had the K15 U to K26 S existed then it would have been a downgrade. The 199,00 € price is the Update price for owners of Komplete Standard 14 …
