Feature Request – Loop Wet/Dry Control for Traktor

Hi,

I wanted to ask if there is currently a way—or any plans in development—to implement a Loop Wet/Dry control in Traktor?

I’m looking for functionality where I can set a loop on a playing track, but have the original track continue playing underneath, and then use a wet/dry parameter to determine how much of the loop is layered over the continuing track.

I would mirror the track on another deck and loop there. Maybe it's even possible to set up a single button for that.

Yes I've done that but but not quite the same thing would you agree…? Plus take up a whole track?

FormWhat I gather the only way to do this is with the DB4 and a Dedicated K2 Loop Functionality Enhancer Midi Mapped in the V2 release of the DB4 software…but it think this is the perfect tool to all layers without sacrificing a whole track… How do we ask NI to incorporate this in a software update? ;-)

Oh of course. I understood that. But NI is not in the position to fix even grave bugs, so I just wanted to point out a workaround that you could use.

How do we ask NI to incorporate this in a software update? ;-)

Here is the only place. The idea section is closed. But I can't remember a single feature that got implemented in the last few years based on customer feedback.

You can record a variable sized Loop using the Loop Recorder. It will automatically start to replay the recorded loop and has Dry/Wet controls. You can also set the audio source to be recorded. It'll be quantized and synced to the Master Clock.

You can even overdub the recorded loop with additional audio on the fly. More details in the manual. :)

Edit: There are commands for all visible elements, except source (dang), so you can map it to your controllers, no matter if the loop recorder is visible or you have FX units visible on the left side. TP3 and 2 had this in the center where master clock controls are now.

Select CUE as source, then press Cue Monitor for the deck of your choice, turn Monitor Mix all the way to the left and it will record a single deck (which you'd be able to hear on your headphones). I think. Haven't used it in while (i'll test this myself). ;)

Edit: After testing… CUE as source will record the audio of all selected decks (those with Cue Monitor active) regardless of MIX setting and regardless of line fader position. Very simple to use. Only one loop at a time can be recorded and played. Basically it's a fifth deck with rudimentary controls.

If you want to go McGyver, you can capture the loop recorded with a remix deck. Just drag and drop from Loop Recorder to a free sample cell, or set capture source of your remix deck to Loop Recorder and use the remix deck commands to transfer the loop to a cell. Then you not only have a lot more parameters to adjust the playback of the loop, but you can play up to 4 loops at once per remix deck.

One remix deck will service all three remaining decks. It's just that the somewhat complicated steps necessary need to be trained.

I think you can forget about this being a future feature. There was some discussion (and even a point in a Traktor-new-features questionaire before S4MK3 release) to have a per deck Dry/Wet for FX Send (the last of my own dream requests). Many wanted it. What did we get? MixerFX. You better try to work with what we got (which is pretty decent; even non-Traktor users praise Traktor looping) than to wait and dream my friend. 😆

HAHAHA thanks…. did you happen to see that video I posted… apparently with the DB4 you can loop each track and then Wet/Dry it so that essentially double your ability to layer tracks…

I know it's compacted but why is DJ software so rudimentary…. in this day and age you would think there would be endless features and add ons and way to manipulate the sound… but they are still basically digital tape decks with play, FF, RW, CUE and Loop, adjusta pitch here and there and adjust theEQ and that's basically it!

Also with the D2 you can Wet Dry the Effects to each cell of the Mix Decks… so that's somethign… but not to the regulartrack decks…. SO I ask again why i DJ software so rudimentary? If you look at Image or video editing 10 -20 years ago to now its like night and day… but DJ software is still basically the same… And Traktor has more than most others at that!

Haha, you are presenting all of my talking points of 5 to 8 years ago. 😂

You have Dry/Wet for every subchannel FX Send (mappable as well), both for remix deck and stem deck. It would be soooo easy to have that for each deck. I mention this to any NI person i run across every couple of months. You are seeing the result (silence). @Stevan pointed out to me that we can now make a stem track out of every song we have and assign a knob to control FX Send Dry/Wet for all 4 subchannels at the same time to get to the result i want. I have yet to start converting my library. 😋
