@Jeremy_NI I’m having the same issue using different versions of the programs and different library:
Using the “main” browser (the NKS one) to load a preset from the brand new installed Homage on Maschine 2, instead of seeing “Homage” name in the loaded slot it displays “Kontakt 7” (pic 1) and no sound is audible (the preview sound in the browser was working correctly).
Therefore it is not an issue about “how the library gets loaded”. Using the main Maschine NKS browser gives the same results (it loads an “empty” instance of Kontakt. See later infos)
Additional infos:
It seems like if the library is not loaded… and probably that is the case, since it is not even listed in Kontakt
Hey @LostInFoundation I split this thread to a new one since the other one was quite specific (Piano Uno not being a proper library with NKS features, Maschine 3 and not 2 and Kontakt 8, not 7), please avoid this, it makes the discussion more complicated for the initial user.
I'll check this out with the proper setup. Any reason you are still using Kontakt 7.6.1? Kontakt 7.10.8 is the latest available.
I wrote it in kengreen’s thread cause it is the same issue. No matter if he is having it with a different library, NKS or not: the issue is that some libraries are not loaded (probably because they are not present in Kontakt, although they can be seen in Maschine and with working previews).
I’m almost confident the error is in Native Access installation process not working correctly for some libraries, not in the program versions used or which libraries are involved.
IMO the issue is the same.
And having all the infos (like Kontakt being loaded as a name instead of the library name or the library not being listed in Kontakt) in the same thread could be useful.
But, if you think it is better to split them, go for it.
In any case, I have an update: tried to uninstall and reinstall Homage and it still get not listed in Kontakt (the minimum requirements are met)
Btw: I’m using Kontakt 7.6.1 on the computer I used because is the one offered by NA. I’m still on 1.14.1 and will not change it until NA 2 will be a good program (same for Kontakt, although I also own 8)… this could also have something to do with what is happening, although it shouldn’t: Homage is offered for installation and meets all the requirements, as did the other libraries that I installed and that are working… but… to exclude this as a cause… @KenGreen: which version of NA are you on? (Although I already know the answer, since having Kontakt 8 and Maschine 3 he cannot be on NA 1)
Issue is not the same. Piano Uno is NOT a library, does not have NKS implementation at all, and I've explained how to load the Piano Uno for that user. VERY specific case.
I wrote it in kengreen’s thread cause it is the same issue. No matter if he is having it with a different library, NKS or not: the issue is that some libraries are not loaded
@LostInFoundation
It's not the same issue.
Piano Uno is Kontakt's internal instrument, added to ensure that every user (especially a brand new user with no other content installed) has a default sound available.
Piano Uno is not a discrete library, meaning that it is not available separately, nor does it install separately. It installs as part of the Kontakt installer, and cannot be browsed outside of Kontakt. It's an internal component, much like Tools, Leaps and so on.
Worth noting though, that once the internal instrument is loaded, it still includes an NKS map so will still map to your controller.
I’m using Kontakt 7.6.1 on the computer I used because is the one offered by NA. I’m still on 1.14.1 and will not change it until NA 2 will be a good program
I would strong advise that you consider making the switch now.
Kontakt 7.6.1 is very old. The latest would be Kontakt 7.10.8. You're missing out on a ton of bug fixes, as well as performance improvements (up to 600% faster). All this does is hurt your own experience, and risk polluting the advice you may give to others, as you're running an outdated experience.
The same could be said for Kontakt 8, which is also more performant, and more stable, than Kontakt 7.
NA2 has been stable and capable for really quite a while now.
Thank you for the advice, but no thank you.
NA 2 “Stable and capable for really quite a while”? and using Kontakt older versions “hurting my own experience”? That is not my experience.
And if my advice is polluted, I’ll let you professionals continue and tell me why Homage is unplayable and why Piano Uno behaves the same.
Btw: sorry to have disturbed by trying to give you the maximum of infos I could notice about the issue to help in finding the causes
I'm sorry but did you get that Piano Uno is not a Kontakt library so it can't be the same issue than with Kontakt libraries? Have you checked how it works in Kontakt 8? Do you think we make this up or what? Or do you just want to disagree at all costs?
Ah well anyway, the explanation of your issue is way more simple. It doesn't show in Kontakt 7.6 even in standalone, again one other difference with our Piano Uno case.
So it would seem that you simply updated the Homage library and it broke compatibility with 7.6.
You should simply download the previous version in the download manager: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/account/downloads/00562720-03ac-4d7b-9e65-c13095300e89/?name=Homage
This version should do the trick:
So if you wish to stay on outdated versions of Native Access and Kontakt you should pay more attention to these dependencies.
You might want to uninstall the library first, you could do it within Native Access but not in version 1.14.1.
@Jeremy_NI I’m sorry too… In that case I will signal something incorrect: although I could always pay more attention, I always check the specifics and the requirements. And this is what Native Access tells me when I open the infos for Homage (which I didn’t update, but installed for the first time simply choosing what NA offered me, after checking the aforementioned infos):
-Btw: NA1 is still not deprecated, as per this thread of end February announcing the delay in the deprecation ( to which, although it said that more news would have come in the coming weeks, no further info was given, unless I missed it and I am also unable to find now. In that case, point me to it)
Not trying to disagree at all costs, just trying to have clarity from what NA tells me and from what gets announced.
And sorry if you felt so offended
Well then, do you see an update available for this library? Have you tried to install the library from the download manager?
if the library does not show in Kontakt 7, that would be the usual steps, reset Kontakt's database, with these steps:
I didn't say it was deprecated, I said it was outdated because it hasn't been developed since Native Access 2 was brought in. You don't want to use Native Access 2 based on your assumptions, fine, but you can't expect an undeveloped product to work as well as the current developed one and you have to deal with the consequences.
Not offended, just no time to dwell into this kind of useless debates when we do know the source of the issue was not the same, a thing you could have checked it out by yourself instead of keeping arguing again and again.
If all of this didn't help I suggest you try different versions of Homage and Kontakt 7, you can find them in the download manager: https://www.native-instruments.com/account/downloads
