X1MK3: Community Performance MOD (qml coding)

That's great! 🔥
I'll stick to my version for now though, until phrase length is adjustable (I prefer to set it to zero, since I want onlyBars.Beats
)2 -
A redesign of the setup page has become necessary. I'll dispense with the shift layer and make several pages to flip through, easily identifiable by colour (and # in MODE screen). … progressing.

Setup redesign to fit the new custom toggles is coming along nicely. I still need to adjust the screens for page display and new toggle positions. There will be a toggle and adjustable counter to engage the beatcounter and set phrase length. At length 1 (so, one bar per phrase) it will only display 'bars.beats'.

sounds great

I can make good use of that.😃
I hope I have understood this correctly😆 (so I can switch through several pages... maybe you can also provide a page for custom button mapping for qml code)I'll just wait and test it out☺️

In setup, MODE will cycle through pages (1 and 2 so far). MODE (hold 1 sec) will exit setup. The page buttons are at the bottom of X1MK3DeviceSetup.qml. Beatcounter toggle works already. Phrase length buttons (Dec/Inc) are in place, but i have yet to implement the phrase length display (fixed at 8 at the moment). I removed the shift layer toggles. FX screen displays for setup custom toggles are complete.
Remix Deck beat counter to replace time display and Track/Stem Deck beatcounter still WiP (they both only work for Track/Stem Decks).

I have a couple of suggestions:
- Shift + Encoder1 → Loop IN
Shift + Encoder2 → Loop OUT - When in browser mode, loading a track on a deck will automatically close browser mode. I find the extra step to press SHIFT to close unnecessary.
What do you think?
0 - Shift + Encoder1 → Loop IN
-
- I think the functions already used with SHIFT+Encoder are too important to leave out. You can override them by hand with overmapping assignments. A modifier (mode: hold, value: 1, override: no) on the shift button, LOOP IN/OUT assignments for the encoders with modifier condition of the used modifier (value: 1).
- Good idea for an additional custom toggle.

On my version SHIFT + Encoder1_push does (nothing) the same as Encoder1_push → enable/disable LOOP ACTIVE, while SHIFT + Encoder2_push enable/disable key lock. I am not an experienced DJ but is key lock something more used then loop IN/OUT?

Maybe it is, i always use it to disable keylock right from the start, but reengage it when splicing in a loop or melody of an off-tempo track that sounds really bad when off-key.
Also i was secretely planning to place the RELOOP function on SHIFT+Browse Encoder press, the same way i did for the S4 mod. 😉
In my personal experience (i may not be the most representative), i only use Loop IN/OUT for off-sized loops. In that case i also want to be able to adjust both end points manually, which is something i would need additional control elements for. The X1 is too crammed for that already, while the S4 has ample buttons to do this with.
But as mentioned in my last post, you can overmap to your heart's content. 😁

Try this mapping. Don't forget to delete or deactivate the old TSI for your X1.

This one has the custom toggle (setup, page 1, left button 4) to exit browser mode when activated and a track is loaded.

I'm curious, I'll try out the update tonight.😊

Interesting, I always leave key lock engage and never touch it 🙃
A couple more ideas to consider:
MIXER
When in Mixer mode, the top arrows buttons are not used unless the deck is a remix deck.
I propose to give them something to do when we are in mixer mode and the deck is a normal deck. Possible options that come to my mind are:
1. LOOP IN/OUT
2. LEFT_ARROW=Channel FX1 assign
RIGHT_ARROW=Channel FX2 assign
SHIFT + LEFT_ARROW=Channel FX3 assign
SHIFT + RIGHT_ARROW=Channel FX4 assign
The second option is basically a copy of what happens in the FX overlay layer, but maybe having that available directly in the mixer could be handy.
REMIX DECK
I am not sure if this is already available, but what about some combinations to control samples row and samples page?0 -
I removed FX unit assignment from the mixer page (it was originally as you suggested). Reason: I wanted to make it clear that the buttons are lighting up when you have subchannel controls for stem and remix decks. There should be no confusion about this. You need to switch to FX overlay for the FX unit assignments.
The only thing i want to add to remix controls is capture source. And beat counter for the screens.
