More information on future updates M+

These things are only advertised because there's an expectation these days of inexorable betterment of software and hardware, often given for free.
And what would you prefer - total radio silence, or being told what's coming even if it mans being let down because invariably life just doesn't happen the way we want it to? It's been good to see recent open communication, but based on threads such as this I wouldn't blame them for doing a 180 and going back to only talking of updates when they're ready to download.
And no need to take this personally. We're all seem to be guilty of this entitlement, in one way or another. I'm no exception. But this thread has made it so crystal clear that it's not the way to be. We've been told the update is ready, but issues that no one has control over have created a last delay…and still people are grabbing their pitchforks.
Oh, and the in the back of the car is very much still alive. We're just not there yet. Simple!

I’m not taking this personally… I’m just surprised that what I write gets ignored to have the ability to contest things I have not written (even in this last post: I never complained about them telling what is coming… I just said it’s too late).
And…before you contest my “too late”… I wouldn’t be so “demanding” (I could accept some “not so impacting” things would come after one or two or three years) if only in the last years they wouldn’t have proved us that they even feel the right to tell us “but this device is around from 5 years, so we’ll make it EOL now” and after a little more time they even find ways to not allow us to authorize them, making them unusable. Therefore… you buy something, MAYBE after 3-4 years you got it working how it was meant to be, and after a couple more years you will not even be able to install it/authorize it if needed…
In any case, got your point 👍🏼

Here in XXI century almost every hi-tech hardware/software product is sold in half-baked state to cut costs and time-to-market by shifting time/money expenses to customers side. M+ was not exception to this rule. Just fixing all the bugs during last 4 years would be huge. But even now M+ doesnt work as expected. And i have no hope for upcoming release to fix even half of reported bugs, and every new day brings discovery of new funny/ridiculous ones.

To continue the restaurant analogy:
Waiter: *Brings you cold food*Customer: "You made us wait a day and a half for cold food?"
Waiter: "You're so ENTITLED! The OVEN WAS BROKEN FOR A WHOLE DAY!"
Customer: "If the oven is working now, then how is that an excuse for being served cold food?"

As I wrote earlier: Imagine if instead of adding any new features, NI just spent time fixing the initial releas bugs. It would all have been done-and-dusted years ago. Instead, they've had to keep adding new ingredients. That's no way to ensure a fully baked dish, is it? ;)

Just to be sure I understand: which new ingredients additions are you talking about?
Because the last one that I remember was the (very welcome) addition of Auto Sampler, back on 10.05.2022.
All the other things marked as “added” were things that they omitted at the release (like somebody already said, “release half baked state”).
Or should we be grateful because they “added” things like “Uninstall content products”, “Locate missing samples”, “VST3 support” (between, one year and one month after they gave us compatibility update with 2.16 version on desktop, telling us “but don’t use Kontakt 7 till we update M+ too, otherwise it won’t work, since it is VST3”), “Performance and stability improvements”, …?
All those things (and the other “Added”) were things that should have been there from day one.
Not to mention the Fixes… like “Distorted or stuttering audio that would go away” which means that they didn’t work good before…but probably we should be grateful also because they fixed something so serious that they didn’t nail at the first “attempt”.
Leave alone the “Updated”.
“Updated Maschine logo to the latest version”… game changer! But I suspect this is the new “strategy”: not including basic things that were already there before (see also the case of Komplete Kontrol with less features than previous version) in order to be able to then say “See? We are still developing it” when re-adding them after 2 years… (or even worst, like the case of Guitar Rig 6, when they “forgot” to add the looper that was already present in previous version… to then say “we will re-add it”… just to come back with the news that, yes, the looper was back…but now the product was called Guitar Rig 7 and we had to buy it…)
Yeah…I know…I’m negative… It always happens to me when I read things like “they’ve HAD to keep adding new ingredients, that’s why they had no time to fix the initial release bugs”…(Which, between, would have been better: yes, I think that providing the experience you promised is more important than realizing new products to sell… or “update the logo to the latest version”…)

wow guys and gals. Can we agree that no one is wrong in this case? As I see it, y’all are barking at the same tree but from different sides. I can totally understand the disrespect towards customers as I too feel now after 5 years with the M+ that they could have e done a much better job with it. It’s been mishandled from start. I can also totally understand that it’s still a very capable and well-functioning instrument that delivers, I can transfer projects between laptop and unit bcs I made sure to keep parity, Sonoma, 2.14.7 I think is what I have installed on desktop parallel to M3. So there is a way to have both, as for now. Sadly one just has to accept that it’s the current way.

Agree: M+ is a fantastic instrument…its problem is that it seems NI doesn’t know it.
My real worry is that the way they treat it (and the whole Maschine system) will lead to its dead (and it won’t take long…). That’s why I’m crying: I don’t want to soon have to do without it.
Once again: my critics are not towards the tool, but towards the way it is managed

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to hearing more about the future updates and compatibility. Appreciate the transparency

the mpc2000xl is still a horse even though it’s so old. M+ will prolly hit a point of stagnation and we’ll have to love it for what it is. I’m guessing it will be possible to transfer files to desktop for the future, but for how long? After that it’s just wav and that’s still what you have to do with older units so, and tbh it’s kinda how I do it now, I finish as much as possible in the m+, transfer project to desktop for some details and then I just export wav loops och every pad, and then without any eq or fx or anything, to just re-make everything inside Logic Pro. It’s not a one-stop-shop to do-it-all-box for me anyway as it is.

Who knows? Just saying it's getting closer to the middle of Q2 as time progresses and the last time we heard what was going on was roughly in late Jan/early Feb with the 3rd party NKS hardware program. I suppose they might wait until the update for Maschine + is out, though.

Are you saying that the only new feature M+ has had is the Autosampler?

There is a big difference: Mpc2000xl is not from NI…
It doesn’t need NI “permission” to even be able to use it (by connecting to them and putting your account, otherwise it’s just a nice display saying “Welcome to Maschine +”).
And…as things goes lately, who can honestly say “they will never block us from authorizing it” and be 100% sure?

No. I’m saying what I said: that from 2022 that is the only real new feature.
But if you want me to do so, I will tell you what I think were the only REAL new features it received.
It’s gonna be easy and fast, because they are only 4:
- Support for external midi controllers (the keyboards, Maschine Jam,…)
- Support for external audio interfaces (badly done…maybe with the new kernel update it will improve)
- Addition of Poly Synth (which I don’t use (other synths are better) but is a plus anyway)
- The aforementioned Auto Sampler (the only VERY GOOD one, because it allows to make up to M+ limitations by at least sampling instruments to use)
All the others “Added” were basic things they omitted on release (unless you consider the ability to erase things or rename them new features).
If I must be frank, even some of the 4 I mentioned should have been there from start, imo. But I wanted to be kind ☺️
And to be clear: I’m not complaining about the (few) additions (they were very welcome). I was just contesting your “they didn’t fix bugs because they were soooooo busy constantly adding new ingredients”
The new update (maybe) coming soon could change this a little bit, if what they said about the addition of at least some effects will become reality. But, honestly, that is not even what I’m after: I could easily live without nothing more being added. What I want is what I bought M+ for: being able to move projects back and forth (without needing to wait 8 or more months or not updating anything every time an update is released) and its functionalities working perfectly, without bugs or hiccups. All the rest is a (welcome) bonus1 -
Cool! If I need to know whether a new feature is "real" or not, I know who to ask.
