Cant download Native Access, says "Error opening file for writing" every time I try to download it
I got this Maschine Mikro for my birthday and I've been trying to download Native Access for over a month now and every time I try to download it. Below the message it has "Program Files/Native Instruments\ Native Acces\ VC_redist.x64.exe" so I went to a discussion and I read to download Microsoft Visual C++, and I downloaded both of them and Native Access STILL doesn't download. And when you click ignore it will make a shortcut and a 'Missing Shortcut" message would pop up. Please if anybody can help me before I decide to return this.

My first question is - why is your system drive listed as “k”?
Many programs expect to see “C” as a system drive
What exactly is going on with the OS on this machine?

My first though also. Why k:?
Also you say you've been trying to download Native Access for "over a month" but you have at least three copies of Native-Access_2.exe (the installation program) pictured right there on your drive.
Usually when I see people have taken a photo of their screen instead of a proper screenshot, I tend to give up hope of being able to help… 🤣

Below the message it has "Program Files/Native Instruments\ Native Acces\ VC_redist.x64.exe"
This looks wrong somehow , as if something has been downloaded to the wrong folder or something.
Program Files is a system folder (where programs install to) and no manual downloads should ever be downloaded to Program Files\Native Instruments\
Manual downloads ought to be downloaded to e.g. the folder Downloads and then start/execute them from there. It is impossible for me to evaluate what is the exact reason for what you are experiencing but immediately then it does not look as if it is a Native Access related problem but more a problem of something gone wrong.
Also you should tell us exactly what is your OS version , otherwise then you should download and use latest version of Native Access for your OS .

The error is clearly regarding permission to open a file for write access. That is not a normal error to see.
This indicates some strange conditions with your OS.
Also noticed a file just called “.exe” just above your Native Access 2.exe. That makes no sense either.

Not only has the Native Access install program been downloaded at least three times, based on the file naming, but it must surely have also been run in order for the \Native Access\ directory to exist..
I'd guess there was no need to download the Visual C++ stuff. You certainly shouldn't be putting the VC file in the Native Access directory and trying to run it from there.
"I went to a discussion" What discussion?
Talk us through what you've done, step by step. You've definitely already downloaded the install program and run it, so Native Access should already be installed.

none of those drives actually exist I got this mikro in the beginning of march and i've never downloaded anything from native.
i dont know why the k: is there I think it had to do with me naming something in the past i have no clue and

no clue why its a k, it probably has something to do with me changing my name somewhere.

I went to the "Native Access does not start/install" page and it said in one of the steps to download
So when i first got it I went to download it, first time downloading any native instrument software, and that's when I first got the error. I have no clue why it says I have native instruments in my program files because I don't.

Does not make a lot of sense since C is the universal standard when installing the OS and you do not get a choice of letter during setup
And it cannot be renamed once installed as that would create all sorts of chaos.
Afraid you will probably need NI Support to sort this one out.VP

This makes me a bit worried since this is not how computers work. Drives and drive references with drive letter K does not appear out of nowhere. Also then I see that you download things and zip files which when you add it all up might suggest that you could have virus or malware.

Your own picture shows that you have already downloaded Native Access 2 . (that is just a name the actual version number is higher).
To install it then reboot your computer then go to the download folder , then right click the Native Access 2 , then select run as administrator , then install it.
If it installs OK then open Native Access settings and in file management then leave all settings as is except you can change download location and Content library folder destinations if you want.
If Native Access 2 does not install or anything else go haywire then I will have to suggest that you ask someone with good Windows and computer knowledge to help you check your OS and software for errors and virus/malware (and maybe help install the software ?).
Also you have the option to contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support .

Anytime I click on the exe to download it that's when the error notification first pops up even after clicking Run as Admin, and if I click ignore the Missing Shortcut notification would pop up after Native Access makes a shortcut on my PC.
I went to Native Access support and I still haven't found no help because no one has had a similar problem

If you have an exe to click on, then it's already downloaded. Clicking an exe is not "downloading" it.

I meant to set it up in my computer use context clues😭.
Its looking like Im gonna return this in a few days unless I find a solution in a few days

That and the exact problem is the clue to take

That's an option of course , but I would still suggest that you get someone with a lot of computer knowledge to take a good look at the state of your OS and software (You can still install Native Access even if you would have nothing to use it for)

The major problem here is though , that even if you manage to contact N.I. support then they most likely can not help you with the problem because it is related an OS problem and it is not a problem with the N.I. software.
The problem you have most likely is of a nature where that it would take least effort to fix by formatting the drive and re-install Windows. However then should it turn out that you have a computer virus then you should have the computer virus removed before re-installation of Windows since else a virus sometimes can sometimes survive even if you reinstall Windows. So checking thoroughly for computer virus and malware definitely is a good idea (which always is once in a while especially if you have strange computer problems).
