Logic also asked for network access on my system, have you done that?

I don't have such a request, assuming you are talking about "local network" I have Google Chrome, iTerm, ChromeRemoteDesktop and NIHostIntegrationAgent on the list.

In any case - it works most of the times, looks like some sort of a race condition in my case. If Logic launches at the startup (because I shut down the computer with Logic running) it seems that it loads before the NI tools or something like that. Another way to "fix it" today was to shut down logic, disconnect the keyboard, connect it, start KompleteKontrol, shut it down and start Logic.
Could be irrelevant but that's exactly what I did today and it worked.

Could you give this a try?

The NIHardwareAgent or NIHostIntegrationAgent services are not running in the background

Make sure that both the NIHardwareAgent and the NIHostIntegrationAgent applications are set as startup items.

    1. Open your Mac's System Preferences and choose Users & Groups.
    2. Make sure your account is selected under Current User and go to the Login Items tab. Verify if both NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent are listed in the login items.
    3. If any of these two items are missing from the list, add them by clicking the '+' icon.
    4. Navigate to the following location:
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Hardware
    5. Select the missing service and click Add, as shown below.

    Thanks.
Today it started ok so the dancing around the fire, etc… wasn't required this time.
both are in the login items and I see them running in activity monitor. I'll check again once it happens again.

    So today it didn't work.

I checked and NIHostIntegrationAgent wasn't running for some reason, I double clicked it it in the login items list, I saw the display and leds on the keyboard flash and activity monitor showed it running.

I then started logic pro again (I closed it before doing this) and everything worked.

I wonder how come it doesn't always start up…

Do you have any antivirus/firewall/property list cleaners like CLeanMyMac or similar running?

Sorry, I was traveling and missed this.

No antivirus, this computer is doing almost nothing outside Logic.

Not on this computer. But why would that prevent something from starting up when the machine starts?
