how much flexibility & control do you have with the Maschine+ & maschine Jam

on a completely separate note….
i've been trying to streamline my dual maschineJam setup, cable reduction, portable speaker system(minirig4), even looking at the remote desktop virtualhere method, which does work but comes with caveats.
additionally having a pair of Xreal Glasses untethered to my m1macmini, to help with monitoring everything you would see on a desktop…. ive basically stepped out of the bounds of being tied down & limited by many of the constraints others have to deal with.
heres the thing with the Maschine+ & NI….
if NI were to have a apple silicon chip inside the Maschine+ (standalone)…. you still wouldnt have any additional freedom, and would be constrained by the builtin OS of the Maschine+…
this will always be the issue of any would be…. stand-alone unit
why people hype up the standalone Maschine+ or Akai etc etc… do they have wool over their eyes??
anyway… it is what it is

Out of curiosity: how do you even say to Maschine to send to iPad? Does a new device appear under midi when you connect the WiFi in that way (which, I admit I still haven’t understood 😂)?

I hope I can be proved wrong also on this… but as per my experience (and ozon’s one), when connected to the M+ usb type A ports the Jam doesn’t even allow to switch to midi mode (so no templates possible)

when it comes down to the nitty gritty, it really depends on if all the extra workaround is worth additional templates created via controller editor… as the steps to make it work, require both an android phone that is compatible with virtualhere and the need for a remote computer to be actively connected.
when you get to this point of all the additional bits and peices required for it to work… it sort of defeats the purpose of having a Maschine+

I'd wonder if there are any rtp midi tools build for something like a raspberry pi zero. I doubt it would be as flexible as something like the mioxm or xl; but would probably make a fun project.
i know there is a application on android that ties itself to the rtp midi over wifi
its called "midi hub" by true blue interactive

Complicated to explain without taking a bunch of screenshots. My ipad always receives the same IP on my network. The mio will initiate an RTP (network) midi connection as soon as it sees it on the network.
Since maschine is connected to the mio via USB, all of the "DAW" ports are available. I have port 7 routed to the ipad in the mioxm.
So maschine isn't connecting to the ipad. It's connecting to the mioxm. The mio is connecting to the ipad.

Oh ok… so it’s like with my Audio 4+ (also from iConnectivity).
But…everything is connected with cables anyway…so… it defeats the idea of WiFi…
If I must use an usb cable to connect the M+ to the mio….at this point it is better to use it to connect to my iPad directly. And the iPad doesn’t connect to the M+ with WiFi anyway…it connects to the mio that then sends the messages to the M+ with the usb cable… practically the mio is an external ulterior WiFi module for M+… so I stand on my point that iPad can’t connect to M+ with WiFi.
Or not…? Smoke starts coming out of my brain…
I think I’ll give up in trying to understand…😂

You're correct. It just happens to work because the mio is on my network. It's not connecting directly to M+.
It will be interesting to see what happens if someone starts hacking around on M+ and gets root access. Assuming network midi is handled at the OS level and the OS just presents the software with available ports…
I wouldn't do it if I were NI. We have people coming to the ecosystem that are computer illiterate; trying to guide them through RTP/Network MIDI would be a nightmare (source: I worked in tech support for a decade. DO NOT WANT). That said; having some sort of community supported version could get quite interesting for the nerds out there.

I can see your interest… but I’ll keep plugging my usb cable from iPad to M+ 😂
