It's going to be wierd see NI play series on MPC's
0 -
I’ve heard that rumour , but heard it’s reaktor ensembles not the plays series as they use kontakt

It wasn't a rumour, it was a demo video by one of the Akai Reps, and it was Play series expansions on the MPC.

So it is funny, because it is true.

Interestingly, people on the MPC forums seem very unexcited about these «news». It was just casually mentioned in the NAMM 2025 thread.
2 -
Because us MPC users don't want what's happening to NI to spill over the akai... they actually listen to there users.. 😂

Wait… WHAT? I legit thought you guys were joking… AKAI will run the Play series before the M+ does? Oh boy…

Notice how the GUI is different though. Not only the layout but the colours, the cloud graphic…
There was also a glimpse of Analog Dreams on the NAMM schedule that Akai uploaded to Instagram, which they quickly changed.

“Oh boy” is the right reaction.
I will add another “Oh boy” if NI, after (and IF) this will happen, will decide not to put them in M+ anyway (even an ulteriorly simplified version, if M+ is less powerful than MPC)

I'm sure it will be on the Maschine +

Nobody’s waiting for that anyway - what’s really needed is stable software, implementation of ten year old feature requests and getting rid of the abundance of bugs, old and new.
Selling an old dumbed down library won’t fix any of that.

I reckon the MPC will now run VST's and people can make custom graphics? Like you can for custom Maschine Groups… Meaning it's just a .PNG. The big deal is having another standalone capable of running Plugins, the M+ was the only one… and limited to NI, not 3rd party… But how would it be authorized without NA!?
Or it's auto-sampled patches with a fancy PNG? No idea but I'm very curious.
There's no way Kontakt is officially supported all the way by MPC's in standalone, that would be a major embarrassment for NI.

What do you mean? MPCs (and Force) were already capable of running plugins
I'm sure it will be on the Maschine +
I hope so (but I’ll continue using “hope” instead of “I’m sure”, knowing NI.
In that case, we will learn a lesson we haven’t understood in all these years: if we want something from NI, we have to ask it to… Akai…😂

I was hoping they allowed direct connection feature that NI have for the kontrol mk3 keyboards.. but it looks like it's authorized software download to the mpc which i believe those play series instruments are under GB.
That being said to offer it to akai and no on the machine +before is already an embarrassment 🤦

Very true .. Akai didn't embrace the controller space for years now they leaped and NI is playing catchup or are they? They have an extensive library it only make sense to work with other companies who invest in there products
