When you said "this week" were you referring to (6th to 10th) or (13th to 17th)? 🤔

Any information at this point would be greatly appreciated. Since November 6th, there hasn't been any new update on the upcoming release. Let's be honest—'coming soon' is a very safe term that can easily be stretched indefinitely. A more concrete update would mean a lot to us.

Hello @Chris_NI up and running again…? As M+ owners we really would like to know if and when the promised v2 update for Maschine+ will be released?

We really need our devices to be fully compatible with the latest version 2 software on desktop, and also to be compatible with more class compatible audio-midi interfaces. The v2-update was announced to be in testing early July 2024, but was put on hold due to other priorities.

Now version 3 of Maschine for desktop is released, we still need our hardware to be updated for version 2 compatibility and bug fixing. And upgrade to v3 of the software would be very welcome, too, but first things first don’t you think…?

I think the only way of dealing with this is to accept that Maschine is a dead platform in a buggy state, for which, unfortunately, there will be no JJOS moment.

The fact that they have pushed the v2 compatibility update to free up resources for v3, then release that version for computer, and again let months pass without making M+ compatible with the software version (not even talking about new features here) is enough for me to know that I am actually dealing with a legacy platform here which works, but will never ever ever evolve into anything other than what it is right now (a dusty and restricted but usable groovebox thing).

I, for one, will never buy another product from NI again, and use my M+ for what it is until it breaks, by which time I will also have found a viable alternative (or maybe grab a second hand controller version if any are still around). I would also never recommend Maschine to anyone anymore, since it tends to be more frustrating than not when comparing to most alternatives.

But: Stop worrying about NI having tricked you into buying into their ****** (they did) and start enjoying the latest rhythm roulette with 9th Wonder…

9th Wonder has now the title for the 2 best RR episodes in his prizes wall (even if, imo, first one was the best). Simply a genius.

And he shows the proof that a Maschine in the best hands could be one of the best devices around.

Unluckily, it is not in the best hands from the roots of the chain: people who should invest in it and increase its value, aka NI

I had to Google that to find out what it meant.

RR is Rhythm Roulette - a "crate digger" series on a YouTube channel called Mass Appeal.

9th Wonder is Patrick Douthit, a producer, DJ and rapper from North Carolina.

Looks to be the usual thing of just sampling other people's work and chucking a beat over it… 😁

Maschine is not dead. We know the M+ update is being tested - they told us as much. The problem is it's happening behind the scenes and we're getting no feedback. No explanation of why it's taking so long.

Also they've had a swap around and Chris_NI is heading up the Maschine side - again they told us as much, but so far that's it.

Yeah, but +1 year without updates, and lack of compatibility with the software version doesn’t exactly scream 'fullness of life'...

    also:

Sampling is an art that thrives on creativity. It's sometimes more than "chucking a beat over it".

Not sure I've seen this chris guy around here before, but I hope he's ok.

His full name is Chris La Pietra and he's been with NI around ten years. I believe he's back at work now, but we're still awaiting info on Maschine updates….

Well…if the guy has received 2 University Chairs to teach at Duke University and North Carolina Central University, maybe what he does is a little bit more than “sampling other people’s work and chucking a beat over it…

To distinguish yourself as one of the Masters, you need to have a deep knowledge of music, a creative mind that TRANSFORMS things instead of just using them as they are, an ear that can recognize that those chops flipped in that order work better than in other ways… and then also be able to add your own stuff (which is not only the beat) on top of it…and that stuff must be PERFECT, otherwise you will hear the detachment.

And if half of your work done for other artists is recognized as Masterpieces, maybe it means you are someone who knows what he is doing…

Simplifying sampling the way you did is a little bit like saying that Bach was just a guy who put some notes one after the other by chance, that the best guitarists are just guitar necks masturbators, that poets have just been lucky to put words anyone else already used in an order that “casually” worked well…

Or saying Linking Park’s Numb is just RHCP’s Otherside with “a beat chucked over it”, since they use same chords progression

Still attacking creative sampling nowadays when half of the “artists” just take old songs as they are, knowing that because of the no-culture (or no-knowledge) of today the new generations don’t even know they existed, is quite outdated ☺️

I suggest to take some more informations than the name and maybe to have a listen to his work. The Zion series could be a start…and facilitating, since he often puts the original as intro to then flip it into something new

Probably you will continue not liking it anyway, but maybe you can understand what there is behind it. One of the things that happened to me back in the days when I started producing was that I started to see the work and the geniality in some producers’ work, even in things that I didn’t like.

In the end, there must be a reason if some producers realize Masterpieces after Masterpieces while others can’t even come close…

A small sneak peek to how he works:

Attacking? No. Describing what he's doing? Yes.

Then what you are being told is that it’s not an accurate description…

Moreover, your use of “just” in that sentence is assigning value…

Regarding your point that Maschine+ is not dead: Many things that are being tested never see the light of day. I am inclined to believe that sooner or later, this could be the case for M+ as well. I fear it will be sooner rather than later.

The “soon” promise is already an extension of a promise made about half a year ago to establish feature parity with the latest v2 version of the software.

I do apologise for using a word that displeases you. Would "simply" meet with your approval?
