Leap User Library: Discover and share custom kits for Kontakt
Create your own Leap kits and explore others' creations in Kontakt 8.
Leap User Library now open
Leap, included in both the free and full versions of Kontakt 8, is your ultimate tool for manipulating samples, building fresh beats, and creating custom kits from your own sounds.
Chances are, you probably have sample packs gathering dust somewhere on your hard drive. Leap is the perfect way to breathe new life into them. And now, by popular demand, we’ve launched a dedicated space where you can share your custom kits and download creations from other users.
We want to hear what wild, obscure genres you can dream up and share with the community. 🪄
How to make a custom Leap kit
Check out the detailed guide below for step-by-step instructions. All you need is the free Kontakt 8 Player or the full version, and your collection of sounds.
How to join
- Create your Leap kit: Use Kontakt 8 to design your custom kit and save it as a
.nkl
file on your computer. For more details, see the manual here. - Upload your kit: Use a file-sharing service like Google Drive or Dropbox to upload your file.
- Share on this thread: Post a comment with a link to your kit, and add a few words about the sound pack. Tell us about the genre, the vibe, or your inspiration.
- Explore and remix: Download kits shared by others, experiment with their loops, and create something entirely new.
Have fun!

Awesome. Now to find the time to make those kits!

Custom Cover + Graphics settings and upload needed.

I really hope that this thread will be a real Leap User Library and not just another endless debate with comments upon comments…
So far i see nothing at all… Can i suggest, if you please to ask questions on other Kontakt threads?
I would love to participate, in fact, i saw this thread in the morning and, instantly, i spend almost 5 hours to create my very first Leap kit! It's was a quick job and it is not perfect… I need to work more with bpm sync or better, to re-work some old samples so their length fits (its a drum kit that i used in my older productions), but i was very happy about it! Actually it took me lot more time to create full graphics (cover, NI Resources) and NKS than to create the kit itself.
Finally, i came here to upload it, then i saw 7 new comment and 0 new kits and… eh, i totally lost my motivation…
So, dear fellow co-members… can we keep it creative?
What is the point to spend hours to create something nice and the next day to see it hidden behind 2 pages full of irrelevant comments? How many people do you think that they read older pages?
Also, if you like something then, vote it up! instead of adding 50 "thank you" comments. "Vote up" is a real, practical reward (even if it hasn't any bonus). "Thank you" is just blah-blah.
Personally i think that this is not the right way to do this, just on a simple thread. To last (and not lost) it has to be done in the same way as the Reaktor User Library, or at least, as a sub-category, such as the NKS User Library or the Traktor Mappings. Each new kit in its own thread. 🙏

Relying on this thread as a user library seems like a an inconvenient, and quite honestly, lazy solution. Are there plans for an alternative source in the future?

You wrote everything that is trending but it's bad because it's Decay.
Don't care about comments but rather about how to do and I guessing from what you wrote that you are interested so just do it.
I will try to do something my own recodings and samples I design using Resampling techniques in Maschine Samplers creating so far impossible to repeat or just authentic sounds with sonic details.
I see that just like the decision to be an Artist and everything on the way up to first Release. It's not just a music and even less abou sound quality. It's about announcement, introducing to the first potential public and always looking for a new people, additional information about project, naming is also crucial and graphic design for the Art Cover. Luck and believing.

Can we insert a personal Wallpaper like for Kontakt Instruments with an image?
I feel like it's even more complex than with the KSP.
Can't we have this data on an external HD?

Do not put obstacles and borders in your creativity!Info:
There are 3 folders inside the archive.
- 1 - Kontakt User Folder
Includes Instrument Resources, Samples and Artwork. Put it in your Kontakt user folder (Windows default at: C:\Users\user_name\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 8) - 2 - NI Resources
Includes graphics for Kontakt, Maschine and Komplete Kontrol. Put it in the default folder (for Windows is: C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources) - 3 - User Content
Includes 2 files: The .nkl (Kontakt Leap Kit, for use in Kontakt) and its NKS version (.nksn, for use in Maschine and Komplete Kontrol). Put them in the default User Content folder (for Windows is: C:\Users\user_name\Documents\Native Instruments\User Content)
Note:
This is just my second work with Kontakt, i hope that i did it right, otherwise it will be most likely that it can't find the samples. In this case just point it to the correct path and re-save it. At some point i will update it for perfect beat matching, as i am not satisfied with 3 or 4 samples, they are out of sync if played all together.
Download:
Get it here: Sunborn Trance Kit
Copyright:
Though everything is free to use it in any way you like, i will retain copyright for the Sunborn_Trance_Kit_Artwork.png image, which is from my personal work for an old flyer. This means that you can still freely use it or share it, but you can not "borrow" it for your own kits! 😋

I have found a graphic bug in the NKS version (Kontakt Instrument / .nksn), on both Maschine and Komplete Kontrol, so i suggest you to not use it until we found a solution.
It looks like this.
I have tried to put the resources in 4 different locations (factory, user folder, content and custom) but it never works. So, i consider it as a bug
Just use the Leap Kit version from within Kontakt. The only difference from the NKSN version is 2 tags (drums, digital drumkit etc, which you really do not need them, since it is obvious what it is).

It's not just a graphics bug, the macros also do not work properly - I had reported that already. For me the graphics cleared up on reloading though
2 -
Just like with other user libraries in this community, we start with a thread first. Once there’s enough content, we create a dedicated space for it - like we did with the NKS user library.

Not sure I am really going to get into this leap thing, but I can already see this as frustrating for new/er users. Can we just get kontakt to load a zip file and search out the files it needs to run/load? Or at least make it a little smarter in this AI driven world when if I put the leap preset file IN with the samples, it does not stupidly ask where the sample files are? Add some kind of simple behaviour…please.

Hi!
Thanks for the Trance Kit!
I'm new to Leap so am a little unclear on how to install the file that I have downloaded from your page.
I tried dragging the file into Quick Load but that didn't work…
Any help would be appreciated!

Any instruction for Mac users? I tried the usual folders where this should go and no luck.
- Kontakt User Folder is user assignable but the default is Macintosh HD > Users > Shared
- NI Resources = Macintosh HD > Users > Shared > NI Resources > Image
- Mac user content folder = Macintosh HD > Users > Username > Documents > Native Instruments > User Content

If you really do not know where to put the files, and your first act was to "drag them to Quick Load" then my friend, i strongly suggest you to forget Leap for now and read the very basics on Kontakt manual.

Probably you should use your default folders, or do some experiment.
I have no idea about Mac, sorry.__________________________________________________________________________________
Note: Please do this small experiment.
It can help you all (in both, finding a solution and develop a critical thinking)!
1 - Just load a sample in Leap and save it as kit.
2 - Then see where it was stored and put mine and all the rest user kits there too.
…easy eh?0 -
